Is this change of attitude because he is being possessed by Lord Voldemort or is he just being a typical teenage boy coming into his own?

Typical teenage boy, and also a boy who has been "caged" most of his life, and feels like he isn't being listened to by the ones who he used to go to for comfort. Dumbledore forces him back to the Dursleys, even though Harry hates it, and even when he saves his cousin from the Dementors using highly advanced magic, he is punished, instead of getting a "well done, Harry!" His reputation is also being smeared by the Daily Prophet - not an easy thing for anyone to live with.

So it's less about his possession by Voldemort and more about his feelings and the typical teenage angst that leads to what is known in the fandom as "Caps-Lock Harry"

He isn't being possessed, and it isn't teen angst either. Harry had a really rough end to his fourth year. He was having a lot of bad dreams about what happened. He also felt abandoned by everyone because, even though they said they'd get him from Privet Drive ASAP, he was stuck there for awhile with no one telling him anything, even Ron and Hermione who he thought were clearly together and clearly where the action was. So he was mad because he felt he'd earned the right to be in the thick of it and everybody was excluding him.

have you read what happened to him?
Honestly, he's mad because his godfather (Sirius Black) dies. His last family link, his last loved one that's an adult he's been away from for years. He hasn't gotten to see him because he's on the run, and Sirius dies.
He's always kind of been easy to be mad, so naturally he'd freak out at the loss of someone he was so close to and has known for so short a time.

Voldemort doesn't love, that's been made clear. Why would Harry freak out because Voldemort is controlling him to do so after Sirius died? It'd be hypocritical on Voldemort's part to do so.

So it's more his teenage angst of loosing Sirius than anything.

Well harry does have the dark lord constantly invading his mind, and he is under constant scrutiny from the ministry of magic that is enough to put any teenage boy on edge

My first reaction was that he had PMS but then I remembered he was a boy... lol =D
I suppose it was because he was being possessed by Voldemort, because it doesn't really happen in any other books, but I haven't really thought about it....

I'm reading this book right now for a second time and i think it stinks that he's so moody throughout the book. I would say its just a teenage attitude.

He's just got some bottled up anger and teenage angst and he's steadily getting rid of it throughout the book. =D

That's pretty much all there is to it. XD Poor Harry.
