I just moved to Connecticut from Florida. My office is really small and I haven't met many people. Does anyone have any ideas to get me out of the house to meet people? The tv is becoming my best friend and I hate it!!

Does your place of business hold potlucks, meetings, or picnics?? If so, make sure to go and try to involve yourself in that way, perhaps?

What about going to find a church?? There are alot of cool churches out there that now play super cool music with a band instead of an organ and piano (ours is one) and some of the bigger churches have 'small groups' where you can join in and get to know a group of 10 or less people that will make you feel very welcome.

Here's a cool one...are there any dance studios around that give lessons?? That's a GREAT place!! Don't feel that you have to have another person for a partner in order to sign up. If you don't have one, they'll have one there! It's SUPER fun and you'd have a blast. I did that and it was WWAAYYYY out of my comfort zone to do this (and my hubby went too!), but I had an absolute blast!!!!

I hope you find something that works for you!! Plus do you have an apartment?? Perhaps the dwellers get together (or you could invite your neighbors to YOUR place!) and have a 'block' type of party!!!

You'll get friends soon....I can tell!

Well, Connecticut is actaully a pretty fun place. I have relatives who live there. My sister and her husband first took classes together to meet people, such as workout classes, and pottery classes. There are also many others out there. If you have any kids, or nieces/nephews, sign them up for some things around the neighborhood so they can meet new kids (it's a great way to meet their parents). Also, if you go for a walk around town, you may meet some people. Or go to a bar, and just talk to random people who you wouldn't normally talk to. I remember doing that when I moved and now I have great friends.

I'm sorry I don't know the area enuf to really tell you places to go, since I am on the West Coast, but please don't let TV be your best friend, you need to get outside, go to a movie, or a park, or a party, but letting the TV be your best friend will eventually turn you into a couch potato, because so many shows are so addicting. Even if you like to play video games, or play here on the internet, don't watch TV at the same time.

get out and sightsee. Go to the museums. The malls, go to church. Go out for a walk, go to the movies. Just get out there, and be seen.
