my brother is going through a bad experiance right now. The landlord wont fix anything and when he does fix something it is half *** so my brother has to fix it. The toliet broke and he ask the landlord to fix it and after he so called fixed it it still was broken and when my brother told the landlord that it was not fixed the landlord said yes it was so my brother said whatever and then my brother fixed it and the landlord came around again and saw that the carpet in the bathroom was gone and yelled at my brother for changing the carpet and my brother said i had to change it bc it had all the pee and stuff on from the toilet being broke and i had to fix the toliet. The landlord was upset he said to my brother that he should of left the carpet there. My brother said you are nuts. The landlord has a cat and the cat had kittens under my brothers house he is renting from the landlord and the cat ruined the ducts under the house and the landlord told my brother that he needs to fix it that it is not his problem so now my brother has no air conditioning bc of the landlord's cat. The landlord refuses to fix the ducts under the house. OH and the landlord still expects 500 a month from my brother.

Yes, several. The most recent was today. I was locked out of my apartment because the lock was broken. The key which had worked before did not work. So I used my neighbor's phone to call the landlord's "emergency line," and left a message. Theory was this message was to go to a pager which would produce the manager with keys, and I'd be in shortly. An hour and a half later, having sat on the steps going up to the next floor for all that time, expecting the door to open any minute and the manager appear, I went back to my neighbor and asked to use the phone again, and called a locksmith. The locksmith charged $65.

It is now nearly six hours since I left the message on the "emergency" phone number and still no call or visit from the manager. I wonder what he was thinking when he turned off the pager or ignored the page. But I intend to subtract the locksmith's bill from my next rent check.

We had a landlord in New Jersey who wouldn't allow us to put anything in the basement, even though the only access was through our apartment (4 family house). At another apartment, also in New Jersey, the landlord routinely entered out apartment, while we were at work, and moved things around. We bought our own place after that experience.
