Ok, here's my story. My dad took me to my first baseball game a month before my7th birthday. It was a beatiful sunny saturday afternoon. I remember walking into Tiger Stadium and thinking this was heaven. The smell of fresh roasted peanuts, the smell of fresh cut grass, and the green green grass. My dad used to tell me that if you dont hate the yankees you aint American. Anyways, it was a tight game with the yankees leading 4-3 going into the top of the ninth. They scored 2 runs in that inning, and they shut down The Tigers in the bottom of the 9th. I knew right then that the yankees were evil evil creatures; and hence my hatred started and has never stopped. That is why last year's victory over the yankees in the playoffs was better than winning the world series.

I agree "arods_1fan"...these answers are pretty lame. You cant say it is because of the money. Way back in the day there were NO million dollar players.
I want to hear a good solid reason.

No offense, George, but we Red Sox fans don't exactly love your Tigers after this weekend.
The Yankee fans really do have a lot to do with it. Contact with New Yorkers who would ask questions like "When was the last time the Red Sox won the World Series?" [this was obviously in the previous millenium when the Yankees did win consistently] with that question followed by "Do you know how many World Series the Yankees have won since 1918?" Throughout the years 1995-2006 it always seemed to be the Red Sox chasing the Yankees. The 2004 ALCS of course was very therapeutic. But ask any Red Sox fan who he or she fears this year, despite the 10 game lead, and they probably will say that they fear the f___ing Yankees.

The Yankees are awesome, they are an American tradition. Ohhhh they have a big budget - WHO CARES?! They put money back into the game, and they WIN. If you are a winner you can have whatever you want! The Yankees players have heart and love the game, they are clean shaven, respectable, and good ball players.
If you wanna hate a ballclub go after Boston, seriously these ppl thought that since they sold the greatest ball player of all time that they were cursed . . . . no they just suck. Then 80 some years after they get rid of Ruth they win a series and suddenly EVERYBODY and their brother love the Red Sox. Wow, those ppl shouldnt even be allowed to watch baseball.
NYC has pride in their team, they always have and always will . . . get a life and find something better to do then whine because the Yanks rock!

Well it was when I started loving the Red Sox when i was 9 Years old when Roger Clemens was a rookie on our Team, I was Enthusiastic when they we're 1 Out away from winning the World Series in 1986, but Giving hits and a Runs to tie it up I was Fearing the Worst and the Worst was a Reality once the Ball went past by Buckner legs and it cost the Red Sox two runs the Game 5 to 4 in 10 Innings and the Series 4 games to 3, My Hated Started with the Mets but ended 10 years with the Yankees Signing two members of the 86 Mets Gooden, Strawberry, they're was Also Paul O'neill and a Rookie Named Derek Jeter and when I wanted the Braves yes the Braves to repeat as World Series Champions 1 Year after they won it all with David Justice hitting it out in 1995, I was Angry when the Yankees Stole the Series from the Braves in 1996, I knew a Dynasty Started But its was Atlanta's and Boston's Dynasty they Spoiled I don't rust People who Spoil My opportunity or My team's.

I was about 7 years old when my Uncle who I am named after took me to my first Yankee game. My Dad and my Uncle had grown up with Phil Rizzuto and before the game I was introduced to him. I sat with Phil in the booth for an inning, I think it was the 2nd, and he announced on air that I was sitting with him. The Yankees were playing the old Kansas City Athletics with their purple uniforms and the Yankes won on homerun by Tommy Tresh. Rocky Colavito also homered for the A's. From that point on I bled Pinstripes. The Moral of the story is "One man's ceiling is another man's floor." I don't dislike the Tigers I remember back in the day when Al Kaline and co were Champs. Micky Lolich (who I thought was a great pitcher) and Denny (Convict) McClain were tearing up the league. I still see Lolich's pronounce stretch after releasing the pitch. Those were the days.

Well, my entire family lives in Cleveland Ohio, so theyre all as die hard of Indians fans as you can be. My dad is a die hard Tribe fan too, but we live in Chicago. My family lived in Ohio for 8 years, and my dad and uncles went to at least a Tribe game a week for a long period of time including the World Series games and countless playoff games, and I would occasionally go to games, and went to about 100 while I lived there, a good amount. My dad and my uncles hated the Yankees almost as much as they hated the Pittsburgh Steelers (theyre Die Hard Browns fans too), and I guess it just rubbed off on me.

But I realized that I hated the Yankees when I went to an Indians Yankees game at the Jake with my cousin, brother and uncle, and Hideki Matsui came up to bat and literrally the whole stadium started chanting "overrated" until he popped out to center field. The Yanks ended up winning that game, and I was mad because I had come in from Chicago for a week or so to stay with my relatives and it was my first Indians game since I lived in the Cleveland area. I also read somewhere that the Yankees have played in 39 out of 102 World Series ever played, and since my Indians lost the World Series in 95 and 97, I was mad that the Yankees got to win them (I was pretty young and didnt know better) and my team had to lose it twice. I guess my distaste for the Bronx Bombers has just escalated throughout my life, because of the random Yankees fans at games in which their team isnt even playing, and hearing "Go Yankees!" shouted at a Cubs White Sox game at Wrigley. Also the fact that they got Bobby Abreu, one of my favorite players, and because of how much they paid A Rod is a small part of it. This is not a "money reason" its just that Abreu is still one of my favorite players, and I really wanted A Rod to go to the Indians ( I didnt know any better).

It was in the year of 2006. Twins@Yankees.

Me, my girlfriend, mom, dad, and brother all bought tickets to go see a Twins game at Yankee stadium.

During the 8th Inning, the Twins were winning 6-1. Someone spilled coke on my little bros back. I will never forgive whoever did that.

After the game, Twins won 6-1. Here I am making my way out of Yankee Stadium, and all of a sudden, I get shoved. I fell forward against my girlfriend, and the force of whoever pushed me had pushed her into the ground. I was fine, but she ended up with minor bruises on her hand, and a sprained ankle.

I ended up getting into a minor fight with the person who pushed me, but my dad and his dad broke the two of us up.

It took a few weeks for my girlfriend, Hikari, to get over her sprained ankle, but that day I will never forget.

This is why I hate the Yankees. I am glad about there history, but they fact that they did numerous things to hurt me and my family, I will never forgive them.

I remember the day exactly...
September 2nd, game 2 of a 3 game series. Twins won that game, but lost the series.

Still, I hold a grudge on that moment. Curse them Yankee fans.

Seriously, I'm EXTREMELY glad that the Yankees are so horrible right now, because the way their fans act, they deserve it.

What I feel bad about though, his how A-Rod got stuck with such rediculous fans. I feel sorry for him, I really do.

September 2nd, 2006. Yankee fans, remember what you did! Because I'll never forgive them.

October 2001 - instead of letting us feel good about Arizona - truly a cinderella story, they shoved down my throat how because of 9/11, the Yankees deserve to win. Sorry, but it was sports, not politics. The best team deserves to win, and not made to feel guilty about beating New York!

I don't hate the Yankees, they are my favorite team. Some people are born in certain parts of the country and root for those those teams, as I am from New York State, I was born a Yankee fan. I don't hate any team, as hate is a very strong emotion that makes us unhappy and wastes a lot of time and energy. In the horrible world of today in which we live, hating the New York Yankees is not worth it, as our time is better spent on other things.

Besides, the Yankees are not having a good year, so why hate them? They do have the highest payroll, but that only means they put the most money back in the game due to luxury tax and revenue sharing, right?

I do have to laugh at some of these answers though. Shouldn't most of these people be getting to work at McDonald's or studying for their GED?
