OK, I've done acid. It was VERY powerful and scary. It took me awhile to get over the exp. but now I am back to normal again, and thinking about trying it again at a lower dosage then last time and in a better environment. I know some people dropped acid weekly in the '60's, and I've heard both good things about that habit and bad. The thing is, I don't know which is B.S. I know first hand that acid can be horrible, but i also know it didn't do any real damage either. A lot of people on YahooAnswers give false information on this subject, I want real information from people with first hand knowledge on the subject, and no one else. I had a bad trip, but I know it was because of panic and inexperience. I now know what its like and what to expect. I thought I was having a heart attack on LSD (not pleasant). Sorry for this long note, but I want this question finally answered honestly.

well... here is just a scary tid bit about what LSD does to your brain... LSD actually makes your brain bleed which is what makes you trip... So as for long term affects... ya there can be... if your brain starts to bleed again after taking LSD you could go into another trip without actually even taking the drug... I mean hell ya it was cool to do... before i found out what i was doing to my brain... So i would just say you need to make up your mind for yourself whether or not you care what you are doing to yourself...

I had done acid maybe 100-200 times over a 4 year period, the last time coming almost 10 years ago. The first comment I have is that if you are apprehensive about doing something like this, then it is probably a good idea just to leave it alone. There are a couple dangers - the first is that if you are predisposed to psychological problems, the LSD can bring those problems out. I have met plenty of "acid burnouts" in my day - people that took a lot of acid and seemed to be permanently loopy, but you kind of got the impression that they were not the picture of mental health to begin with. Another issue is that depending on the nature of your trip, you may be exposed to certain "truths" (I don't know if they are true or not) that may put into conflict the manner in which you are living your life, so be prepared for what be a life changing experience

Yes, I have done it many times. Yes eventually it will have a lasting effect. However controlled usage is normally not a problem. I try to use the not more than once every six months. The medical community considers more than six hits in a lifetime to be permanentaly damaging, but I know people that do nine hits at a time, several times weekly. Are they damaged? I couldn't really say. They are definitely more in tune with nature and there surroundings than most individuals, and they tend to be more into art, music, and religious freedoms than most common people. The question is, is this evidence of damage, or enlightenment? I would have to say that most squares consider it bad for you because it makes you think outside the box. To keep you next trip from being scary, trip with someone else who has done it a few time, and when you get freaked out, just calm down and tell yourself "It's not real, it's all fun, I am not going to die, and it will be over soon so enjoy it".
Peace.

PS, no it doesn't make your brain bleed. This is just stupid. People have been safely consuming lydosurgic acid since the 1800's, when it occured on Rye grain as an Ergot, or fungus.

I'm 56 and in the late 60's & early 70"s LSD was my drug of choise. The efects last only a few years if you don't become a burnt out hulk first. And that's the up side.
Far to many of the people I hung out with are so burnt out they are unable to have a logical train of thought. It is the same with all drugs. I live in a town where old hippies go to ...
Most live in a fantacy land, but they all get along and think it's normal.
If you are looking for an awareness, meditation is a good place to start. If you think meditation will give you a drug experance you've been watching to many movies.

I was one of the lucky ones.

Edit:
yes the strychnine is true. I could tell you what the acid was cut with by the effect it had.

LSD as with most true pychedlics is near physically harmless, creats no physical addiction, and has an extreamly low chance to create a pycological addiction.

Mental illness may occure or make latent mental disorders surface (stay away if u currently haev mental problems)

Overall compared to other drugs even aclohol its a pretty safe thing to mess with. The biggest fear is mabye hurting urself while on it however thats not really the drugs fault, always have a trip sitter.

LSD works by binding to Seritonin recepters in the brain and does NOT caus ur brain to bleed... only retards belive that.

I've tripped over 100 times during a 3 year period. Each person experiences long term effects differently. I rarely have flashbacks, on the other hand my friend is really out there. If you already had a bad trip you're better of just not doing it or eat mushrooms. Shrooms are similar, but are less intense. Good luck and have a blast.

I've done maybe 12 hits of acid in my life. I prefer to do it alone so I can get to know myself better. Doing it for recreation with a crowd of people is stupid, in my opinion. I did most of mine alone for spiritual reasons. I'd love to try mushrooms, but never had the chance so far. I heard some universities are now beginings to study the effects of shrooms and lsd again. My trips changed me, mainly cause I pushed myself, while tripping, to change the way I see the world. I think it's an intensely personal experience. You have to stay calm and explore reality without fear. Focusing on your body, verifying that you live in your fleshy shell and the sensations you feel come from within yourself can help. or not.

I have never took it and the reasons is that I know what it have done to people I know.
One friend ended up jumping off a car park after taking it for yrs after developing mental disorders because of LSD.
I also know people who have ended up in mental hospitals.
Now I grew up with these people and know what they like before they took it, and what they took.
Its bad news so I wouldn't go on a whim of taking it thinking it won't be me.

today`s acid is not LSD it is a strychnine high. if you get real LSD let me know real LSD will make you see and hear things and will cause flash backs and will only take one hit to do the job. you will get flash backs and see things but if you have a guide to take you threw the trip it will be a pleasant one
