hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians are getting killed. For every scirmish when an Iraqi dies, someone in their family will hate the Americans and become a radical. It can only grow. I think it the battle is already over, fighting a lost war. What are your thoughts.

We need to pull the troops out and do air strikes. Enough chasing our tails in mediating a civil war where insurgents have the upper hand.

Enough sacraficing our precious soldiers. Either blast the bad guys to hell or get the hell out.

Yes, I'm aware of innocent Iraqi lives will be shed, but I don't see that as a radical change from how many have died since we went in there. Let's clear them out of certain areas and make it known that if they enter, its at their own peril. Then unleash the "Kraken".

Iraq is a lost battle. Because we screwed up.

Ritefielder is dreaming that we can somehow still bring "victory" to Iraq and defeat an embedded insurgency that's had full control of Iraq since 2003.

The sad fact is, is that there are now calls for Iraqis to arm themselves--since the government can no longer protect them.

If that's not a full-blown civil war in the making, I don't know what is.

In my opinion yes. It was lost from the start. The troops need to be brought home. The way it is going we could be over there another 60 years. The country is in worse shape now than before Bush & Co. decided to get Hussien. Well, he got him but look at the cost to America's youth. Not one life was worth it. Besides all the deaths of innocent civilians and the country is now in a civil war and it will not stop till USA leaves. I think it is an illegal war and I think Bush should be impeached along with Dick Cheney.

I think that once we stop electing terrorists to office (Yeah, I know, King Bush the Usurper wasn't really elected), a lot of innocent lives of many nationalities would be better off. Stop listening to the fear speech, people, and start thinking for yourselves. Do some research before you cast the ballot. There's a good reason that the campaign laws favor a two party system... it keeps those that have power in power. Until we stop electing people from the two major parties we will continue to see a lot of poverty and strife.

Well I do believe that we should just send our men back into our area and bomb that whole area, let alone if innocent people are there or not. I know a lot of people won't agree on this with me but if we don't just win now more death will be caused.
We are losing the battle, but not the a way people understand.

hundreds and thousands of innocent people died in WWII, and we won that.

If we don't win this war, terrorists all over the world will see that a few car bombs and IEDs can bring a nation to its knees...then we will be in real trouble...terrorists will feel invincible and the US and other free countries will be in more and more danger.

Islamic extremists will stop at nothing to see the end of western life. Islamic extremism is not a political ideology, it is a way to get to paradise...and this is great incentive for many to fight for Allah. We have to win this fight to show the world that freedom can prevail over terrorism.

I agree--but you describe the situation as it has been for four years.

Today, it's even worse. With all the deficits, and because we have focused on bullying small countries for oil instead of figuring out how to create replacement energy sources, the US and its lifestyle are now at risk.

The British Empire died in the sands of the middle east, the Soviet Empire destroyed itself trying to control the middle east, and now the US, although only a country, is poised to go down the same drain.

It is in our best interests to cut our losses, admit wrongdoing, and get the heck out of there.

No in the short term it may seem so! but in the long term I believe things will get alot better there!

Just hold on and Iraq will see better dayzzz!

The American priority is now to get the people of Iraq on their side, this will turn the people against the terrorists and in the long run they will die and loss support!

Iraq has been proven to not be the offender. We fight a blind war and will fight it to the bitter end unless someone comes forward with the intestinal fortitude to stop it.
