You dont have to but you are supposed to wait. It says so in the bible so thats where people get that from. Obviously you are young, other wise you would no this. The bible takes a rather big part in the government and in daily life for many people. Lots of famous sayings are from the bible. The bible is important.
Also if you wait until marriage it is more respctful for your husband. People will think higher of you because they know you arent a prostitute (however if ur not a virgin but also not a whore thats not bad). Prostitutes arent thought of vey highly. Another reason people say it is because if you wait until marriage its a far better chance that you wont get hurt from sex. Example you have sex with someone and end up getting hurt. That is why you arent supposed to have sex until marriage.

The reason most given is because most religions do not approve of having sex outside of marriage. They feel this way on religious belief. The other reason people say it is because they don't want there daughter to get pregnant or someone they love, without having a father there for the child that loves the child and mother. The other is because if you have sex with various people you are considered a sl*t and know man ever wants to Marie one of them, Oh yeah he will have sex with her, and maybe date her, but he will not Marie her.

Why should you wait, because you want to know that a relationship that you have with opposite sex is not just about sex, that it is about someone that cares about you. Who you are, what you like, what you don't, not about what you have to offer sexually. I am 33yrs, and I don't think I would have been in so many unsuccessful relationships had I waited until I was married. What you have is very special, treasure it always your not missing out on anything, just wait it is worth it.

1) Unwanted pregnancy.
2) Sexually Transmitted Disease.
3) When you DO get married, your husband won't trust you because you've been with another man.
4) It is fornication (a sin if you are Christian)
Dare to be different; cherish your virginity. Save yourself for your husband. You will not regret it! And neither will he.
A LOT (probably all) of the guys will disagree; that's because they just want to get you in the sack--once they do, they'll be gone, looking for the next girl to "conquer."

OK, I think that people say this because they worry about their friends/family-etc, might catch an STD or have an unexpected pregnancy...
I think sometimes it is more of a warning...
but then you also have people whose religion or family -instills in them that premarital sex is wrong and frowned upon or may even get you thrown out of your religious affiliation & family.
(I have seen that before)
I think personally, that I would want to have intercourse with someone I love. Not a one night stand or a sort of permant boyfriend.
I find that sex with my husband is very rewarding, and I feel so much closer to him than anyone else. I feel like he completes me and makes me whole.

Do you want to be abandoned with a child by some random guy you had sex with? I have nothing against pre-marital sex, but I think the age has to be reasonable.

Because some people don't want to have sex with a stranger, or being taken advantage of they would be more comfortable with someone commited to them.
