Will a magnetic compass readout be affected if I put it in an aluminum houseing?

This is a Richie B/N 202 bulkhead mounted compass,I want to move to the top of My wheel pedestel

No, only by ferrous metals like steel, iron. Or by the magnetic field produced by electrical components.

I'll second markT. Only ferrous metals effect a magnetic compass.

Are you talking the mag comp for an auto pilot it has to be away from all medal & Ele , The read out makes no difference.
