Because that is the way that TVs are (and used to be) measured.

Before that TVs were measured by the CRT diagonal size in inches.

Originally TV tubes were pretty much round so the diagonal used to be the diameter. Probably inches because TVs first were popular in the US.

You are a friggin idiot. Inches are not outlawed. I can go to the store right now and buy a ruler with inches. The reason things are in Inches is because America started the computer revolution. There would be no computer industry if not for us. America owns the whole world. Everyone else is just jealous. The world would be nothing without us.

because if it was measured horizontally or vertically it wouldnt be clear on all the measurements so they would have to write both

so i guess its easier diagonally

and inches because its the only approiate one, because meters are too big and centimeters are too small

it has to be measured in something, and inches are pretty much universal - diagonally for simplicity.

because it's easier that way. you'd have too big a number if you did it in millimeters or centimeters....and too small a number if you did it in feet. inches just works
