There were lots of people working on the light bulb.
Edison was a brute force inventor. He really wasn't that brilliant. Not like Tesla. The light bulb would have come along just fine.
So I guess we should just keep doing what we are doing in Iraq and sooner or later it will work even though we are not really trying anything different. Edison at least tried different material in his light bulbs. Total brute force. Perhaps if he had really used his brains he could have found the right material after 20 tries.
Say what. Edison wanted to use direct current because he wanted to make money putting generation stations every other block. In fact he toured the country killing dogs with AC to prove how evil it was. Edison couldn't carry Tesla's jock strap.

We'd be exactly where we are now. Why would anyone have opposed the invemntion of the lightbulb? Well, I could see the republicans cutting funding for the research.
How many people died in those failed lightbulb attempts?
How many billions were wasted?
Grow up.

That's what I call a real stretch comparing Edison to Iraq. Edison couldn't find a filament to work, he tested over nine thousand things until he finally found one that did. Are you saying we need to stay in Iraq nine thousand years?

Not all liberals are bad; only the extreme liberals are. Moderate liberals are the Founding Father liberal type, like I am, even though I have mostly conservative ideology. And, there are several conservative communities, like the Amish, who live away from electricity. And according to ideology, Edision was a liberal as he was a scientist.

Did thousands of people get electrocuted each time he tried?
War isn't inventing anything. Its killing people. That is the essence of war. Kill or be killed. If we are to win the war, they need to go in and win it like we mean business instead of just sustaining.

well, that really all depends considering he had a direct hand in Nikola Tesla's financial demise, along with his banker buddies. Think before you speak.

I think it was closer to 10,000 failures before success. I'm not sure where we would be, but I'm sure we would be in the dark.
