Lol i hate that. I always have a shop towel over my shifter knob. I hate leather seats too in hot weather. My gf asked the mercedes dealer if they can take out the leather seats cuz we hate them. That was hilarious. A long time ago i saw this infomortial (however you spell that) that was selling this product that cools down your car when its parked. You have your window cracked a little bit and it sits on the top of the window, kinda like a speaker at a drive in but smaller. They made it so dogs can stay in your car or something. If you don't wanna do that, just get windshield shades or tint your windows.

Well i agree with the outside heat. I drive a stickshift and it gets really hot this time of the year. If your shifter knob is metal, it might be a good idea to purchase a different type of knob. Of course it will be hot still but a little less. Regardless, keep a rag or some cloth in the car to use over the knob. As far as the steering wheel, it could be helpful if you get a matching wheel cover such as a cloth one to give relief to your hands when driving. Tint does help as well. Even if the legal limit in your state is about 30%, you can still get as dark as tint as you want. What the people at the tinting place will tell you is that they wont be held responsible if you get pulled over for really dark tint over the legal percentage. Seldom have i seen or heard of anyone getting pulled over for dark tint.

Live someplace where its not hot. Deal with it everyone else that drives has to deal with the heat. I know I deal with it everyday with my car and truck there's nothing you can do to prevent the heat build up other than leaving the windows down, but that kind of defeats the purpose of locking your car. Tinting the windows may sound like a great idea until you try driving at night and can't see out the back window to backup or see through the side mirrors because the side windows are tinted too dark.

My first thought was an electrical short as well, but I dint think that is likely. I would have to agree with the other answers concerning a sun shade and proper, legal window tinting.

get the windows tinted the darkest you are legally allowed
you could also buy a sunshade for the windshield
or if that doesn't work, you could get a remote starter, and have the A/C run for a few minutes before you enter the car.

Their must be a serious electrical short either under-side the dash, seetbelt latches or the shifting mechanism.
