Why do people point to their wrist when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

For guys anyway, they grab their crotch all the time. So if they were asking for a restroom in the same manner, nobody would pay attention, they just figure "eh, he has an itch". I kinda point at my crotch when I need to go, I put my legs together like I'm really holding it.

Your pointing at the object: the wrist for time, the direction of the actual toilet for the bathroom. You would point at your crotch if someone asked to have sex with you.

Pointing to the wrist is a sign for a wrist watch...for the bathroom they have a whole dance lol

because thats where a watch sits and its inappropriate to point to your crotch, people would get the wrong idea lol!

Nice. I think as kids we do and then we learn that its not appropriate. Like my son today (3) needed a wee wee on the beach so I let him do it. Afterwards he shouted out "I did a wee wee!!" as loud as he could. When he's 25 I'll be sure to have told him not to do that.

It's considered impolite to refer to your genitals in public, especially with hand gestures. However your question has merit and I think that people should start doing it right..wait for it..wait for it...NOW
