My current power supply says "Max Load 420w" on the side.
i am currently using a radeon 9700 pro.
any help would be greatly appreciated =D

yes thats more than enough that card can run on a 300-350watt powersupply so you should be fine

If your 9700 Pro runs stable, your X1650 Pro should be fine with your 420W power supply. ATI 9700 Pro is a 42 watter. X1650 Pro consumes just a few watts more.
