They were both beautiful and talented dancers. I don't think one is better than the other, but I am a huge fan of Mikhail.

I've always been entertained by Mikhail. He struck me as brilliant at such a young age and I followed everything he did. I have a couple huge pictures of him in my house! Rudolf is no doubt a terrific dancer. And he had such soul in his dance. But Mikhail always surprised me, always better. And the fact that he is teaching is amazing and his students are very lucky!

I'm handing it to Baryshnikov!

I'm old enough that I saw Nureyev with the Bolshoi several times as a little girl in San Francisco. And Margot Fonteyn, too! Barishnikov is amazing. I agree with above answer- it's not a competition. They are both wonderful.

Nebinefer gave an extremely sturdy answer. in spite of the undeniable fact that the only element i will inform you is the comparable element I truly have instructed others whilst they appeared at Margot Fonteyn on video. it is not all approximately technique, yet approximately paintings. Having considered him dance stay with Margot, i will purely inform you that it became transcending. Somethings do no longer translate nicely on video. this is approximately degree presence and each so often it comes for the duration of as the two chilly or the alternative being over appearing on movie whilst this is something yet that stay. Nureyerv did no longer have the final technique and Baryshnikov who got here a era after him technically could desire to bop jewelry around him. remember Nureyev became a character dancer who did no longer even start up ballet guidance heavily until the age of 17. different than for us all having our very own possibilities and likes and dislikes, there is likewise the intangible that could purely be liked in a stay overall performance. of direction this is impossible to circulate lower back in time to work out what I observed, yet i will assure you it became some thing very particular in this is day. the substantial lower back being "in this is day." in case you appeared at video of Pavlova you may additionally ask what's the vast fuss approximately. Dancers have become greater powerful and greater powerful as Nebinefer has stated. Tetsuya does strike a cord in me somewhat of Cornejo with regard to his stature yet without Herman's majestic hearth. truly Tetsuya has a cooler splendor whilst he dances. of direction, like every physique else, this is my opinion and this is not greater or much less valid than every physique else. @ Nebinefer- there became yet another dancer purely as technically sturdy as Baryshnikov from that era, who became missed by ability of the lots yet no longer thoroughly missed as lots interior the dance international (in spite of the actuality that greater missed than he could desire to have been.) the wonderful Fernando Bujones. Had Misha no longer been so rather and have the exposure he had...who is conscious. *in case you watch the movie "The Turning Pont", they edited Fernados pas de deux piece so as to have him do little greater suitable than substantial different and not do something so as to no longer manifest Misha. they did no longer do this with the different male dancers.

BS it's not a competition.....Misha is still alive and dancing AND teaching....Nureyev was a shameless self-promoter and capitalized on his defection from the old USSR (and Margot Fontayne). Of course my dancer son (now a Marine) thinks that Nureyev was the best.
