Watch the news, it already has. The troops enter one area and the "rebels" go someplace else. It is a game of cat and mouse. 80% of the citizens of Iraq want us to leave, and Mr Bush has said that he would go if asked...sounds like we should go. I can't wait until september when they examine the surge and make a decison based on the findings. You are already hearing the cries of need more time....can't the current administration keep it's word on anything? The reason for this war, and the reasons for staying, change constantly to suit the needs of those making a profit off of it.

No.
Even before the surge began it started showing promise because they developed new techniques on not only clearing a neighborhood but maintaining a level of security afterwards.
This military operation is NOTHING like vietnam in any concievable sense.

The more we push, the more (violently) they'll push back. It's pretty simple.
The surge, like the entire Iraq effort is a total failure.

It'll increase violence over the short term, but hopefully it'll bring an end to the war sooner, which will loser violence over the long term. The best comparison is to D-Day, the invasion of Normandy in WW2. That got a ton of Allied forces killed. But it was still a huge victory.

The way to end violence is by violently eliminating those that commit it. There are none so evil as terrorists who hide behind women and children and then blow them up as they go to the market or funerals.
Their surge of violence is intended to sway the American public but it has already swayed the Iraqi public away from them just as surely as Tet reduced support for the Viet Cong.

it already is, unless you watch western media with censored reports and suck propaganda. it would seem Iraki's are surging in to coffins at record pace, some have found limbs to be surging off, while children have found their parents have been surged off. your comparison to vietman is totally correct, one will recall until the last losing minute the superpower talking some smack about surges in vietnam despite obviously losing. again in that war, the western media propaganda machine talked about winning on a daily basis, and we here in other parts of the world, saw the hard reality that the superpower was really losing and just feeding propaganda to their masses.

Bush and the neocons don't care. Profit is way up. Death and misery mean nothing to him. But Bush does worry that if there really is a God he and the neocons will NOT be having a good time in eternity...
