Well, to me Oldies are 50's and 60's kind of music. Classic Rock is maybe what you are talking about. Classic Rock to me is more than 20- years old. Some people call it "Old Skool" I don't. I have raised my daughter on classic rock music. I was a teenager in the late 70's and early 80's and that is what I listened to, and those are the people that have made rock and roll what it is. My daughter is only 5 years older than you are and she prefers it, like you do, becuase she thinks that the modern music her friends listen to is pretty bad and boring. So, Rock on, my dear......We are not stoners or goth, or Emo, either We are typical, girl next door, peanut butter and jelly, go to church on Sunday, have two cats and two cars and live in America kind of people. You go gettem there you! I do not think you are weird. Listen to Pink Floyd, Van Halen, Yes, Kiss, Rolling Stones, Journey, The Baby's, Pat Benetar, Christopher Cross, the Talking Heads, The Eagles, Lynnard Skynnard, AC/DC, just keep them coming....I think you are ok! I am 43, though, so what do I know, right? Hey, I have a button that I either wear or it is pinned in my car. It says, "It's not that I am old: Your Music Really Does Suck!" And I beleive it. Rock on 13 year old kiddo! Don't forget to listen to QUEEN!

No! You are not "weird" for listening to oldies music. I have over 400 old songs on my iPhone and listen to them all the time. I olny like My Bloody Valentine as modern music and Kevin Shields. Heck, I was listening to The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Rush and Elvis when I was 4(I'm now 16)! I think rap "music" is a load of s**t if you ask me! It isn't even music, it is poems being recited to a beat. LOL. Just because everyone else in your school listens to those wanna-be emo posers Fallout Boy and Motion City Soundtrack doesn't mean your "weird".

I think you're a little me! I grew up on the classics! My fav... the Stones! I'm 30 and I was the odd man out when I was in school.... but hey my guys are still being played on the radio (others can't say that). You're not weird at all, in fact I find it refreshing for someone of your age to appreciate the finer music out there. You might also want to check out the Dire Straits, they rock as well. BB King (blues) is also awesome.
And yes, that rap crap is junk!

My appreciation for great music is thanks to my Dad!

To me if you listen to anything based solely on your own judgements then that's one of the best thing that you can do. If you can make decisions for yourself and not follow the crowd then maybe one day you won't end up with a few paragraphs in the paper about your life and your relatives sooner than you have to as a professionally estimated 35% of all people currently aged 10-25 will.

As we Organizations members say: "Don't jump off that bridge kid, you never know how deep the water is."

No. I think that music in the 60's is way better than the stuff that they have now. Back in that time, you actually had to have talent to become a big musician. It seems like talent doesn't matter in music anymore. But there are some good bands now, I reccomend are The Killers, Wolfmother, and The White Stripes.

I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL! I listen to weird alternative groups, like They Might Be Giants and The Flaming Lips stuff. I also listen to a lot of classic rock. I don't like very much modern rock, except the Red Hot Chili Peppers and maybe Green Day. For those about to rock, we salute you [AC(lightning bolt)DC]! Long live rock [The Who]!

no way. When i was young my parents played the beatles and the stones in my crib. ot was a changeover period in history. thats when the music of the parents actually could be enjoyed by the kids.

Alot of my friends parents were older and still listened to music from way back (that sucked) and they all thaought my parents were cool.

Everhy weekend we heard CCR at the cottage and later that was the basis for a whole bunch of friendships to start. do yourself a favour if you dont already know them "Borrow" the album BAYOU COUNTRY.

kids dont have to fear their parents music any more

No you're not weird and you should stop stereotyping, you like what you like and that's who you are. It's good to be different and most likely you're not the only that likes that type of music. I could give you some suggestions; try the Clash, Black Sabbath, New York Dolls, Aerosmith, The Ramones, and U2.

Nope. Since "rap" is the cool(or common) music now old rock is almost more rebellious now than ever. Separate yourself from the crowd classic rock is so much better and more in depth. Quick name a classic rap song from 10 years ago...... Ok you get my point.

hell no give urself a pat on the shoulder for not listening to (c)rap its the same stuff in every song and anyone with vocal cords and a mike can rap. at least ur school's better than mine. half the people like (c)rap, and even worse the other half (i'm 14 mind you) is obsessed with that bull like high school musical. im one in a few that still likes (and in cases even heard of) led zeppelin, beatles, hendrix, rush, etc.
