I have a 87 Nissan Pickup and it's a 4-cylinder...but i have 8 spark plugs. Is that good for me or is that bad.

Your particular motor (Ford tried this too) has 4 plugs on the intake, and 4 on the exhaust sides, the reason was it was supposed to promote more efficient combustion and in turn decrease emissions. sadly it never did.
Its bad for you because you now have greater expense to replace plugs on an engine that is no more enviro-friendly than any other 4 cylinder.

There must be 2 spark plugs per cylinder. If you take one of
the plug wires from one cylinder and don't notice a difference
in how smooth the engine runs or both plug wires off and ground
them and notice if both spark at exactly the same time then it
shows both spark plugs are there to establish a more complete
firing.

4 plugs are for intake and 4 are for exhaust. Yes you should change them all. And if I'm not mistaken each set of 4 has a different part number. Good luck and hope this helps.

I had the same truck... pretty strange! The second set of plugs are on the exhaust side of the engine and are meant to burn off the extra gas leaving the engine. I believe it is mostly for emissions, but it may have something to do with back pressure as well. Truck ran forever though!

I don't think you have 8 spark plugs, you have 4 one for each cylinder.

Toyota, and I think Mitsubishi also tried that for a couple years, but it didn't work out as well as they hoped. So they abandoned the idea.

Just think. 20 years from now you'll have a collectors item.

Take the four extra ones and wire them up inside the gas tank.
