You know how you can take screenshots on your computer if you press PrtScr (Print Screen?), then you go into a MS Paint and you paste the picture in there? Well, I press PrtScr and it asks me if I want to print. So then I tried Ctrl PrtScr and it didn't do anything. So I went to Paint and I couldn't use the paste button? Has this ever happened to you? If, so how do you take your screen shots? Please help :)

Your next attempt would have probably been correct:

Alt + PrintScreen

Best of Luck!

[Alt]+[PrtScr] should work, although I prefer WinSnap, a free program which has better compression and several other features beyond simple screen capture.

For example, you can rotate the image, convert it to grayscale or sepia, or add a watermark or shadow, amongst other things. You can even take screenshots of only a particular window or region of the screen. It saves to BMP, JPEG, PNG (my favorite), GIF and TIFF.

Also, you can set it to take over the Print Screen (or any other) button.

I haven't had that happen but I use a program called ScreenHunter, anyway, which gives me much greater control over what I get and turns it straight into an image without all that pasting nonsense! Download free at the link below.

I've used the free MWSnap for years, from:

Open the program and read the Help Files to learn how to use it.

Try Alt + PrtScn

Perhaps you have the PrtScn button setup as a printer hot key and no, never had it happen.
