Robinson Crusoe is the name of a novel by Daniel Defoe. And also the name of the book's main character. It was first published in 1719. It is written in first person and therefore seems to be like an autobiography of the main character, although it is fictional. It basically tells the story of an English castaway who spends 28 years on a remote tropical island, encountering natives, captives, and mutineers before being rescued.

Daniel Defoe is thought to have based the story of Robinson Crusoe on the experiences of a Scottish sailor called Alexander Selkirk, who was marooned for some time on a desert island.
If you google Alexander Selkirk you can find out a lot more about him.
