If so, what strength is needed? There was a contributor in another post who said vinegar can be used to remove algae streaks from roof shingles. They claimed it was more environment-freindly. Sounds right but is it effective? Anybody had any experience with that? Thanks.

I don't think it will kill it. I use bleach. whatever you use, try a test spot first

There are so many varieties of fungus, algae and mold that vinegar does kill some but not all. Bleach kills some but not all. Rubbing alcohol kills some, but not all. It's kind of like an antibiotic for a bacterial infection. You have to know what kind of bacteria it is before the doctor prescribes an antibiotic. The same goes with cleaning and killing fungus, algae, and mold.

Vinegar kills none of the above at any straight. Bleach used at about 1 capful per gallon should work. As far a environmental concerns it will not cause any problems. If you are concerned about the environment that much then it is a weighing your options

To keep mold, mildew, algae and fungus around does more damage to our environment versus a couple of ounces of bleach

Bleach is the most over used product in America however sometimes you just have to

To my knowledge, it doesn't kill any of those things but try a sample of vinegar & see what happens.
