It is only gold plated and that was common to the Kennedy half from 1964 through the 1980's. I am not so sure why 1972 was picked, for 1973 would have been 10 years since his passing. Over the years I have seen a lot of schemes dealing with coins that people have come up with, to try to make that fast buck. All have failed for the coin collecting community knows better only non collector usually get suckered in. One thing though it is a conversation piece and there is no harm in holding on to it for some years.
