how come there are so many bands that originated out of seattle ? ive never been there , is it really that great ?

Seattle has a diverse music scene, mostly known for the creation of grunge, but there is a lot more. Olympia, about an hour south and the home of K records, also has a number of bands from the area including Sleater-Kinney and Beat Happening.

A new type of music originated in Seattle, Grunge. Nirvana was a key band in that new genre of music. They were from Seattle.

No, it's not a great place to live or visit. Seattle is boring, there's alot of traffic and it rains all the time.

Seattle is a very diverse city with an emphasis on arts. It is also a very rich city with lots of young people with expendable incomes (because of Boeing, Microsoft and lots of Internet companies). They like to go to concerts and see music, so bands are also supported. This encourages bands to work 100% on their music and encourages other bands to move there.
