I think it is some kind of Oak, judging by the leaf. Probably some kind of western variety, but I live in E TN, so I am not sure what variety would grow in your area (every area has it's own plants)

If you will go to gardenweb.com you can post a picture in their "name that plant" forum (it's free and if you are into gardening at all they have all kinds of awesome info on the sire). There are lots of plant experts there and I know you will get an answer.

You could also go to http://forestry.about.com/library/treekey/bltree_key_id_start.htm
they have a tree leaf identifier program- asks several questions to help you identify the tree. Like, are the leaves symmetrical on the branch, or assymetrical. Is it one leaf per stalk, or lots of leaves, etc.

Good luck, I hope you find out what kind of tree it is and that you enjoy your tree!

It looks familiar but I don't know the name of it. The plant looks like something I've seen potted & used as an inside plant.
