Well, I think any age child can have an email..so YES to the Yahoo!.

The minimum age to have a MySpace page is 14 and a 6th grader is normally 11-12, so NO. In addition, I think the parents should be aware of the MySpace page.

A cellphone? I guess it depends on need. My children would have them at an even earlier age, but they would have the ones that limit who they can call and have a GPS tracking system installed. (heh!)

heres what i think:
they should be able to have a yahoo as long as they only open emails and things from people that they know... and no junk mail or anything

is the 6th grader responsible? if you think that they will go crazy and run your cell phone bill up, dont let them have one! but if they are responsible, let them try it.

or you could let your child have a prepaid phone and tell them something like "if you can pay for your own minutes for this phone, and if you ALWAYS answer when i call, then in a few months you can have a cell phone"

about myspace, only let them have it if you tell them that they can ONLY accept friend requests from people that they know, and that they SHOULD NOT put personal info on there. tell them that they have to let you read through everything on there every few weeks. check through their friends and make sure that they are not adding people that they do not know. maybe you would even want to make a myspace of your own so that you can read their bulletins and everything and if they have a private profile (THEY SHOULD HAVE A PRIVATE ONE IF THEYRE ONLY IN 6TH GRADE) then you can read their comments and stuff!

Yahoo-main stuff yes-360 blog no until older and the same with myspaces because they want to protect young kids from bad people who are on the internet. A cellphone sure if your parents want you to have one.

yahoo email would be perfectly fine.
Myspace is questionable. Make sure the profile is set to private, and that you have complete access to it . Cell phones are a hard one. I like the idea of the kid being able to contact someone in case of an emergency, but we all know that a 12 year old is going to run that phone bill up!! So if there is some way to regulate how much phone usage is going on, then sure!

Can they yes, should they well, the cell phone is okay because parents can program it to just call home or certain friends, etc. as for myspace and yahoo hell no! Its just not the right message to send to young children. Look at how many adult issues are discussed here, I wouldn't want to expose kids to that.

Of course they can have one. The real question is should they have one. Having an email account is vital in this day and age but they can hold out on a cell phone. Myspace is up to the parent, who should monitor it for their child's protection.

Well I got all of those things in 7th grade. I don't think 6th graders are too immature...but I guess it really depends on the kid, I mean I was pretty trustworthy, and responsible when I was in 6th grade.

I'm not allowed to have a cell phone until I'm 15 (when i start to drive) but some of my family members and I are pushing for me to have one because i walk home from school

It really just depends on how mature you are and, if you get a cell phone, then there may be limits
