Eastern Standard Time (EST) is 3 hours ahead of Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). Pacific Daylight time includes western states like California, Oregon, and Washington. So when it is 5:00 p.m. EST, it would be 2:00 p.m. in California. You can also do a web search for time zones to find numerous websites that offer the information about specific time zones and how they all relate. My husband is in the Army, so I use www.worldtimezone.com to see what time it is where ever he is located.
