You typically get multiples in one of two ways:
1. It runs in either parents family(just because mom and dad aren't, doesn't mean someone in the family tree isn't-just like the green eyes)
2. Fertility drugs.
Sex in weird ways will not affect that at all. Just have fun with all the little babies!

It can be fertility drugs or natural.
Natural twins/triplets can be identical or fraternal.
Fraternal is when more than 1 egg is released by mom the month of conception and each egg is fertilized by a sperm . hence twins/triplets that do not look exactly alike or of different genders.
Identical occurs when only 1 sperm and 1egg meet up, but early, early stage of development the cell divides into 2 possibly 3 babies. This is why identicals are all the same gender and they look alike.
So never ask a twin set (boy&girl) if they are identical twins-they are not.
It is possible to have 2 eggs released where both are fertilized and then one divides giving you 3 babies. you get twins within a triplet combination. Ex: 2 identical girls and their fraternal brother.
After birth most natural combos (except fraternal 1 boy/1 girl- we already know)are genetically tested to determine which sceniro occured.
No special tricks, some genetic components to it, but sometimes totally naturally random if no twins run in family.
As for eye color variations are normal. Biologically/genetically people are either light (blue-recessive) or Dark (brown-dominant) eyes. All the other colors in betwen(blue & brown) green, hazel are due to a variation of pigments for light eyes.
Eye color and skin color vary because it is inherited gentically as a multiple set of alleles (many genes=variation) not one single gene influences it.
Note what confuses people: 2 brown eyed p's can have brown eyed or blue eyed babies Why?
Both parents carry only dominant genes brown= brown eyed baby
If both p's carry 1 dominant and 1 recessive gene then blue or brown can occur
(so if your green eyed triplets do not have 1 parent with blue eyes than each parent carries a recessive "blue" gene and someone in their family somewhere has/had blue eyes
But 2 blue eyed parents (recessive only) can not have brown eyed babies genetically. This is adoption, fertility (donor egg or sperm) or a case of the "that ain't my baby Maury"
Did you take H.S. Bio yet? All this fun stuff is part of Gregor Mendel's (Father of Genetics) and Punnett squares.

Nope--there's no weird sexual positions.
Fraternal twins is when more than one egg is released and each one is fertilized. Release more than one egg causes can come from hereditary, aging or fertility drugs. Some women may release more than one egg in a cycle--naturally--without drugs. The reason it is hereditary is because it has more to do with a daughter inheriting the "menstrual" pattern of the mom or other ladies in the family. If you have a gaggle of women in one family, with overly stimulated menstrual cycles releasing more than one egg a month--you will certainly have more twins in a family. Hence, "twins runs in the family". Older women (over 35) have a higher chance of releasing more than one egg....because of changing hormones, reaching menopause...body doing weird things...etc. And fertility drugs can also cause women to release more than one egg.
Identical twinning is a different story. It is "luck". That means one sperm and one egg was fertilized and then at some point as they are dividing and splitting, they become two. From my readings, it is considered an accident in nature. Mis-splitting. Identical twins are in one amniotic sac. Fraternal have different sacs.
Since identical twinning is considered a "chance". And fraternal has to do with whether or not the lady releases more than one egg, it is said that it does not matter if there are twins on the males side of the family. The sperm really doesn't decide the whole twin thing. Sorry guys. I have also heard the whole skipping a generation thing is a myth.
Sometimes triplets, quads...etc...might be one or two sets of identical and one fraternal...etc.
Hope this explains it.

If it had to do with the sex position wouldn't that be akward!!! First off we'd have MUCH more multiples running around and second- depending on the number of kids we could say, "Ew, Joe and Beth did it like that?!"
HAHA =D
Here read this:
"The occurrence of identical multiples is considered a random event and is not influenced by age, race, or heredity. This type of multiples occur 3 to 4 of every 1,000 live births.
...
The most common type of multiples is fraternal/dizygotic multiples. Dizygotic multiples occur commonly with infertility treatments. The increase of fraternal multiples is also due to the fact that older women are also more likely to have multiples, and many women are currently postponing childbirth until a later age. Other women who have an increased chance of fraternal multiples include those who have a higher body mass index, have recently discontinued hormonal birth control, and those who have had more babies."

multiple births are considered very rare and as far as I know the only think that increases chances of having twins or triplets is a family history....at least three people in every generation of my husbands family has given birth to twins, triplets, or more. I myself have identical twin boys...my sister in law has fraternal triplet boys and she is pregnant with fraternal twins now (a boy and girl).

It is lucky, and sometimes they are hereditary if they are identical. If they are fraternal it is just the person ovulated more than one egg. I have 2 sets of twins they are both fraternal. Only one other person in my family has twins and she is a 2nd cousin and they are in their 20's now. But there are many ways to have them you can have a set of triplets that have 2 that are identical and one that is not.

Some women are just lucky enough to be able to have triplets some use fertility drugs (only because they have fertility problems). my best friend has conceived naturally (no drugs) twins, 2 sets of triplets and a set of quintuplets. she has tons of kids seriously like over 30 kids 5 of which are not her birth children just her step children 4 of her birth children have passed away but i still count them.

Part of the answer probably lies in your first sentence. Older women are often resorting to fertility drugs to encourage a pregnancy. Since these drugs induce different levels of response in different women ,the possibility of pregnancy with multiple embryos grows.
Also women how have had many pregnancies increase their chances of twins.
Heridity also improves the possibility of multiple births.
