I have a VGA input into my LCD flat screen tv. I have hooked up a male to male VGA connection from the laptop to the tv. The tv has a VGA setting(which it is on), but the tv is saying no signal. Can anyone help??

On many laptops, there is a key sequence you must press when using an external monitor (for exampe on older IBM Thinkpads, it's Fn-F7). Check the user guide, or just take a quick look at your keypad- there might be a symbol which resembles a screen.

Hook your monitor back up and
right click on the desktop
change screen properties setting to
640x480x16
that should work
after that experiment with settings to determine
the maximum resolution of the LCD TV

OR read the owners manual for the TV

Look for an icon (on your keyboard, generally around F8) that looks like a box with a | on both sides, a monitor, or the words LCD/CRT. Press the Fn key and that key and that should work.

most laptops have a key macro that you have to press in order to switch to the external VGA port. with dells for example, it's Fn+F8.
