NO earrings are allowed whatsoever. I ask my kids to get their piercings done in spring so that they are healed by the time we go to camp and they can remove their studs/rings.

I've had my ears peirced twice. When I was little, I cried, but when I got my second peircing at fourteen, it didn't hurt at all. You're old enough, and you won't think that it hurts. Just make sure that you take good care of your ears and clean them so that you don't get an infection.
With cheerleading, small studs should be okay. Just nothing large or dangly. Also, be careful about the weight of your earings (this goes for all of the time). If you have ever seen older women with earing holes in their ears that stretch down and look gross, it is because they have worn too heavy of earings. I recomend wearing only studs the first years before moving onto other larger earings. Be wise when buying that the earings aren't too heavy.
Also, you'll probably need to think about the type of metal that you will be using. Most people have sensitivities to metals such as iron or nickel. You are probably best with gold. It's not expensive--even Walmart has gold covered studs for the like fifteen dollars. If you are like me, you'll be better off with surgical steel. Claires and Icing stores sell earings made of this material. Just look at the packaging. If it says "Sensitive Solutions" it will cause no irritation for you. They're the only earings that I buy.
I hope that this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to mail me--that's what I'm here for. Good luck!

Yes, getting your ears pierced is painful! I have my ears pierced 2 times. And both times it was painful. It hurt for a couple days afterward but then I got used to the pain. Its your decision whether or not you want to get your ears pierced. I think you should get your ears pierced.
Some cheer coaches allow you to have earrings in during cheerleading. And some coaches dont allow you to have earrings in. If your coach allows you to have earrings in then you should only wear studs in your ears, dont wear big, dangly, or heavy ones. The studs that you should wear is small ones, that arent very noticeable and that wont hurt your ears. If your not allowed then take your earrings out before practice or games. If your ears are freshly pierced then explain to your coach that they are freshly pierced. And if you have your ears pierced long enough that they wont go close when you take your earrings out for a period of time.
And when doing stunts and jumps and other things becareful becuz it hurts alot when they get hit or hooked on a shoelace while doing stunts. I have had my ears pierced for a couple of years now and I dont even wear earrings in my ears anymore. But sometimes I do to just make sure that they havent gone close.... And when I do wear earrings they usually hurt my ears...

As a cheer coach, I absolutely DO NOT allow any form or jewelry. No earrings, necklaces, bracelets, hair pins. anything. They pose more of a danger or nuisance than being "cute." It's best that if you do pierce you ears, if you do, do it in a timely fashion before the cheerleading starts, so that you are able to take them out for practices and games.

That's a interesting one. In technicality cheerleaders are not supposed to wear earrings, but under the circumstances of wearing them and the notably small size, i think they could of just let the demerits slide until it was alright for your teammate to take them off. If we were strictly obeying the rules, the judgment would be fair, but if your point of view was heard, i think the coaches should take the back story behind the earrings into consideration.

getting earings are not very painful because most of your ear is just cartilage. i wouldnt wear earrings during cheerleading because earrings can rip out of your ear. also, you need to keep your earrings in for half a year without taking them out so you need to pierce them at a time when you dont have to take them out.

It really doesn't hurt. The people that only say it hurts for a second though are liars; It hurts for like 1 hour. Just not that much. Some gyms let you have small posts that don't stick out from your ear, others (like mine) require you to take them out or cover them with bandaids or tape.

i'm not allowed to wear any sort of earrings for cheer- not duing practice, games, competitions, or anything. this is a state-wide rule for me. if you're a high school cheerleader, you might want to look up the rules for your state.
