I have a lot of questions about the book... such as why Umbridge sent the dementors to attack Harry and how L.V. got Harry to see that his godfather was being tortured, when in fact, Siruis never left the House of Black?

Umbridge didn't sendthe dementors after Harry. Even though "The dementors of Azkaban are under the control of the Ministry", it is believed, by the Order, that the dementors are now under the control of Lord Voldemort. As for the Sirius thing, Voldemort had learned that Harry could see his thoughts and doings, so in his head, he made a story about Sirius beng there. It was nothing more than a 'dream', if you will.

Umbridge sent the dementors to shut Harry up. Two people have been telling the wizarding world that Voldemort is back, Harry and Dumbledore. Of these two, only Harry has witnessed Voldemort's return.

The first time Voldemort was in power he caused a great wave of terror that the Ministry of Magic was unable to contain. Should it be well known that he has indeed returned then the Ministry will look weak as it can no longer protect people as it wants folks to believe. Umbridge wants Harry shut up so that Fudge, and thusly herself as she is the Under-secretary to the Minister of Magic, looks good. The rest of the Ministry had nothing to do with the attack on Harry.

As for Voldemort's making Harry believe he's torturing Sirius, most likely he's using a polyjuice potion. Not on himself, but on one of his Death Eaters. Voldemort knows of the link between himself and Harry, so he's going to use the link to his advantage. But how does he get a Death Eater to look like Sirius when the polyjuice potion requires some piece of the person you turn into and he's not supposed to be able to find Sirius? Krechure, the Black family house elf.

Krechure hates Sirius because he's the black sheep of the Black family and would rather be with one of Sirius' cousins. The night Sirius died, Krechure kept him away from the fireplace long enough for Harry to be lead to believe he was at the Ministry already, or on his way there. Being around him virtually all day, it would be easy for him to get some of Sirius's hair, toe nails, skin, etc. and take it to one of his cousins. They in turn can then present it to Voldemort for use in the polyjuice potion.

He then has one of the Death Eaters drink the potion and tortures them. Harry sees him torturing a Death Eater, but because they look just like Sirius he is lead to believe Voldemort is torturing his godfather instead.

There are a few Harry Potter web sites that will give you a summary of each book: www.hp-lexicon.org and www.wikipedia.org. But I don't know that you would be able to look up specific answers to specific questions. The Leaky Lounge (www.leakylounge.com) is a discussion board in which fans talk about theories and explanations for events. You could probably search it for discussions of Order of the Phoenix events.

Umbridge DID send the dementors after Harry. She admits to sending the dementors after Harry to get rid of him or get him expelled from Hogwarts. (p. 747) She says that people at the Ministry were worried about what Harry Potter was saying about Voldemort having returned. She brags that she is the one who actually did something about the problem rather than just complaining.

We don't know exactly how Voldemort created the illusion of torturing Sirius at the Ministry. I think Voldemort used the mental connection between himself and Harry to send the illusion, but I don't know exactly how he created the illusion.

Umbridge didn't send the dementors, Lord Voldemort did.

Lord Voldemort knew Pottor was reading his thoughts. He just let Potter see what he (Voldemort) wanted him (Potter) to see. This would not have been possible if Harry had been better at occlumency.
