when u kill a person do u have to split ur soul into a horcrux? Cuz voldy must of killed more than 7 people right?

no. voldemort is the first person to make more than 1 horcrux. what happens is after u kill someone, there is an incantation (slughorn tells tom riddle this in HBP, saying not to ask him what the spell is because he didn't know.) this transfers a piece of your soul into the object u want it to go in. and yeah he killed more than 7 people of course, but didn't use all of the deaths as horcruxs. just the important ones.

Killing a person splits the soul, but it doesn't automatically create a Horcrux. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Professor Slughorn told Tom Riddle, "Killing rips the soul apart. The wizard intent upon creating a Horcrux would use the damage to his advantage: He would encase a torn portion --" A wizard has to do more than just kill to create the Horcrux itself.

Whenever a person commits an act of murder within the Harry Potter universe, they tear their soul. They do not, however, have to place any pieces of their soul into a horcrux. But in order to make a horcrux they must first commit murder.

That's my belief. Obviouly he still has sou left, so I'm guessing that you don't have to. Maybe there's some sort of spell you have to say first. Plus, from what weknow, the deatheaters (and probably some ministry folk) have killed and don't have any horcruxes. But at this point, all we can do is guess.

just b/c you kill somebody doesnt mean you have to make a horocrux. to make a horocrux, you have to kill somebody AND make say an incantation or something like that.
Voldemort killed more than 7 people, yes, but he only said the incantation on 6 kills, and thats why hi soul is in 7 pieces instead of 10,000.
