My talent refuses to work unless passion is holding it's hand.

I believe that some talents require passion but they can exist independent of each other. The most talented are usually the most passionate.

People can have many passions and only one talent. And some can have many talents and little passion.

It is all in the choices we make and how we choose to use those talents and apply our passions.

A talent can be neglected or learned.. so as you can tell they come together and go their seperate ways and then can meet back at other points....kr

there is a connection. it's natural to become passionate about things you're talented at. you reap the benefits of your actions, hear the comments and accolades from those who share or admire your talent, build your self-esteem upon the existing talent and desire to do more... all of these things fuel the passion you already feel, and a loop is made.

an environmentalist who is passionate about a cause will do what s/he can to educate others about the issues and challenges faced. the exchanges may become heated, the arguments passionate. when people are convinced and actions undertaken, there is pride and happiness in those efforts. of course, s/he will want to do more, educate more people, advance research about NEW ways to protect the environment, or incorporate exising knowledge together in new ways to excite people, and motivate them. the loop continues...

a talent without passion is a hobby. a passion without talent is a preoccupation.

The exist independently...someone can have a passion for music that it becomes like life to them they live and breathe it and at the same time not be talented musically to even play musical instrument still it doesn't take away from them being passionate about music. Think about people who love to sing but are tone-deaf.

I think they can be independent for those that have a talent that they don't wish to pursue, for instance, someone who has a great voice but doesn't like to sing wouldn't be passionate about it... or a person that can draw really well but they don't really find it "fun" or something they would want to do wouldn't really have the "passion" for art...

That would be the ideal; To be passionate about the thing or things one excels at.
I don't think that's always the case. Many people waste their talent, take it for granted or are apathetic about using said talent positively.
Good Q.

They are independent. I have many talents, but only a few passions.

They are different from one another. A talent is an ability while passion is a manifestation of personality.

Without passion there can be no talent while talent is not necessary for passion ... whichever way one views it.

Independent----but when you put them together....mmmhmm!
It's like peanut butter and jelly!

Example:

You can have the voice to sing but if singing is not something you're passionate about -- it does you no good.
Or, you can have the passion to sing yet maybe all you can manage to do is make a joyful noise.
