I just put a lot of whites into the washer to soak. Then, my husband put it on spin. When we went to check on it, everything was still soaked and the spin cycle was not working. My husband is monkeying around with it but can't figure out why the machine is not spinning. Does anyone know why this would be and how we can fix it? Thanks!!

If the washer drained but didn't spin, then the drive coupling broke. The drive coupling is between the motor and the transmission. It's usually made up of 2 white pieces and a black rubber disk. It connects the motor and transmission. If it breaks, then the motor turns but isn't connected to the tranny anymore and therefore , no spin

it is probable a sturdy sign which you would be able to desire to purchase a clean washing device. I understand you eager to restoration something like this, however the extra moderen washers are a dramatic progression over a 1996 style. They use much less water, they're speedier and quieter. i think of on a 1996 style, it is a beltchronic equipment, so the belt would have snapped. you may would desire to open up the returned or backside to confirm what makes it spin. no rely if it is a broken belt, nicely, it could't be relatively hassle-free to replace. would would desire to take each and every thing off as a manner to try this. undecided it could be worth it. you would be able to restoration thechronic equipment and then have something else injury.. yet maybe you restoration it and not something is going incorrect for 5 extra years. I basically understand what i might do, and that's purchase a clean one, or look interior the classifieds or craigslist and purchase a million-2 year old device for a million/3 the value of recent.

A bent drain hose is usually the first culpret to check. First check if the large rubber tube that water drains into plastic pipe is bent. Rearrange tube & try spin. Unbend tube & rearrage back into pipe & try spin again.

If that isn't doing it; may have to replace spin cycle (control dial & parts of it).

Tommy may be right, but if it doesnt do anything in the spin mode, then its probably a defective door switch.
