how do i convert wood burning stove to natural gas?

Have a lovely woodburning stove but want to convert it to gas as i need ease of use. is this a hard thing or an expensive thing to do please

Check with the manufacturer of your stove Karen whether it can be converted. (on line?) Most wood/solid fuel stoves shouldn't be converted to gas because the vents/airflow configurations are intended for burning such fuels, including "secondary burn" air flows etc.

I have a Glenwood vintage cast iron wood/coal stove that I plumbed gas to installed gas burner and logs to and it works just fine. It's been installed now for 8 yrs. with no problems. I read all the "do not do" articles. We would light the kitchen stove burners to warm the kitchen up in the morning and never had a problem. I didn't see the difference in doing that for a few hours in the morning and converting the wood stove and using it in the evening. No problems ever. It's convenient and heats well.

With all due respect, think of this as not an idea you should explore.

Also with due respect to others, the conversion, isn't a bargain, but certainly could be accomplished. You'd have to determine where and how to install the GAS burner/burners, and Certainly the STOVE itself can handle the heat, etc. BUT why?

I grew up with a wood burning, Kitchen stove, used for 40 plus years. It's function was nicer than it's form obviously, but to convert any appliance is likely a dollar spent on a dimes worth of satisfaction.

When we lived in the city we converted our wood stove to natural gas because our area had so many "no burn days" it wasn't worth having the wood stove.

My wood stove (franklin stove) had holes predrilled to convert to natural gas. We just ran the pipes from the gas line into the house and into the stove. The chimney went straight up and out, no damper. Bought those natural gas logs. Good to go.

It cost about $500.00.

You wouldn't convert this type of stove. Wood and Gas have different characteristics in their combustion. I would not try this. Wood only needs primary air for combustion ( one source). Gas needs primary air for combustion and secondary air for draft. If you could convert the stove, this should be a consideration. If not the Gas flame would soon snuff out or worse allow a carbonizing flame ( Yellow flame).

I have had a wood burning heater that burned either wood or coal. I don't think that you can convert them to gas.

You can change your heating over to gas by buying gas heaters
and the gas company will have to put in gas lines to your gas heater.

Possible but costly and it could produce dangerous carbon monoxide gas if not done correctly. I would advise you simply buy a natural gas stove.
