If you haven't wore it, seen it, used it, in a year get rid of it. That's the golden rule.

I think the first thing to do is to put all the clothes in big plastic bags. Put them in one corner for the time being. Now to the cleaning. This is how get my house in top tip shape. Set your alarm clock to go off in 15 min´s time. Pick a room or 1 thing . Always work in the one room, if you just want to clean inside a drawer , then just do that . Ready let´s do the bedroom. All dirty clothes next to the bedroom door , along with anything else that dose not belong. Never waste time taking things back to their rightful places till you have finished. All clean clothes to the closet , jumpers jean´s top´s. all put on shelves or hang them up. don´t forget the shoes from under the bed. STOP. when the alarm goes off stop and have a rest, or even finish for the day, you need not do all in the one day. But if you think you can carry on the cleaning , then set the clock yet again for another 15, min´s . You will be surprised how much you get done working this way. Just remember , when ever you finish a job , no matter how small. always reward yourself. watch TV, read a magazine or come back here and ask or answer a few Q. 15,min´s here and there ,makes a big difference. Try for yourself

Go through your clothes, what you don't want donate to Good Will what you don't need throw out. until you get the dressers buy containers. When cleaning take one room at a time... concentrate on that one room, when finish start the task in another until all rooms are clean. Every other day straighten the room doing that will make it easier to keep clean.
I have what I call "National Clean Up Day" that is the day I clean everything. It helps me when no one is home to get in the way. Once you start your cleaning don't stop until you have accomplished what you started.

First get organized. Make piles of "keep" "storage" and "throw away" Once you do that, go to the dollar store. They have really cheap bins that you can stick your clothes in until you get a dresser. Then clean your room. It is better to make the piles out of your room that way you can start with a clean slate. Once you follow these steps you should be on your way to a cleaner room. Just remember when you are cleaning it always get worst before it gets better, but stick with it!!! You can do it!

When in doubt where to start ..Start anywhere!!!
I usually start in one corner of the room and start with 3 trash bags.. one for things I dont' like and can't wear anymore(that goes straight to the thrift store), stuff that has holes or permanently stained(that goes straight into the trash).. then the good clothes I start putting on hangers.. (sweaters and pjs should be put in a drawer). If you haven't used it in a year you probably are not going to so just get rid of it.. yes it hurts.. but when your done and the 2 bags are out of your life.. you will feel total relief!!
Remember there are people that would love to buy that weird stuff you own so sell it for extra cash!!! Craigslist.com or Ebay are great for weird stuff to sell!!
Just email me I have been helping friends clean for years! :)

what I do in this situation is take all the clothes and set them out as per the seasons of the year as to when I would ware them.

this put them in a vacuum bag( you can buy them or use a plain clear garbage bag)... suck all the air out they flatten to about 25%
of their origanal size. than store them any where you can even stack them .
This way they will stay clean
not sock up oders
will not wrinkle
and take up less space than ever

when you go to use(ware) them again you unseal the bag they puff up slowly Then shack out the ruffles and your as good as new. Hope this is better then some of the other answers you have received. Some people just don't understand

call a carpet cleansing company and ask them to come again to the residing house and supply you an estimate and methods. the problem with cleansing the winning carpet is that something that has been spilled or otherwise dropped on the carpet is now residing in the pad. So even cleansing the pad won't truly get rid of the allergens you're reacting to. The safest wager is to tear out all carpet and replace with problematic surfaces. If the carpet is comparatively new, you're able to bathe it, do away with it from the floor, replace the pad with new, and restretch the carpet. If the carpet is older, it probably won't respond nicely to this scientific care. In a house like yours, it is perhaps drafty and somewhat chilly you won't be prepared to supply up the warmth temperature of carpet. while you're able to replace the carpet, seem into non-allergenic pad and short pile or loop carpets. they have a tendency to hold much less airborne dirt and mud, etc. good success.

Well here is a good idea to start with: Anything in your home, bedroom, etc., that you haven't touched or moved or even used for one year, GET RID OF IT. My grandmother was a firm believer in this method and today at the age of 76, her house is in perfect order and I guarantee you if you follow this little rule it will work.

There is a name for it! I learned recently that it's called Compulsive Hoarding and Cluttering. I sympathise because have a similar affliction -- it must run in my side of the family. Info is on the web, also.
