I probably wouldn't ACTUALLY name a daughter this, either...I just thought it was cool...it's from the book series The Chanters of Tremaris Trilogy and it's a girl's name...

Calwyn

Yes? No? Maybe so?

I honestly don't no how to pronounce it myself, :D but my best guess would be Cal, as in "calorie," followed by "win"

Easy to pronouce for those who can read.
Calwyn..(Cal-win) duh.

Well, it sure sounds like a Welch name but if it's from a sci fi/fantasy book well, that just kinda cheapens it. How many kids are being named "Hermione" or "Harry" or even "Arwen" these days? Ya know though I did run into a kid whose mother named her "Aziza" You know, like the make-up? I wanted to ask if she had a sister named "Maybelline" !

They named my new niece "Trinity" First thing her 9 year old sister said was "WOW, just like the girl in 'the Matrix'???"

You have to think of that stuff.

But if it's fairly obscure and you are of Welch desent, it sounds ok. Much better than Britteny, Crystal, Amber, Destiny or the rest of the trailer park names out there.

You will probably end up calling her Callie for short over the yrs anyway. It's nice, but I always suggest picking out a few names and then seeing what your kid actually looks like before settling on a name when it comes to unique and uncommon names. To be honest, I like Tremaris, myself!

That's kinda neat... but I probably wouldn't name my daughter that either. I like the "wyn" part but not the "cal" for the first... "cal" reminds me too much of a boy's name I guess.

My friend recently named her baby girl Bronwyn, which she got out of a novel as well.

It's actually a mouthful, and kind of hard to pronounce. I named my daughter Cadence, and you'd be surprised how many people at the doctors office and preschool activities have called her Candace because they can't read properly.

Just something to think about.

well, its definitely unique.... personally, its not my favorite name or close but i still kinda like it. i like how its exotic, and you could use the nickname callie, which i love. the book series its from im assuming is fantasy, and it does sound like a name from a fantasy book, kinda like an elf princess or something. and i dont know if it would work for an adult as well as a kid. but i do sort of like it. especially if callie was a nickname.

I love the name it is beautiful so go ahead and use it. you can name your child anything you like. if this name appeals to you use it if not then don't but I love different names that way people don't judge you because they know someone with that name.

good luck

Not a fan. I like Bronwyn better as far as 'wyn' ending names

like it would't use it
to hard to pronounce and spell it would end up being a pain for some one keep on having to repeat and spell it out constantly.
