My fifth child was born at 35 weeks after I ruptured my membranes moving furniture...she was absolutely fine, kept her temperature well, no breathing problems, just small. Came home on day three with me.

My third child was delivered by caesarean at 26 weeks due to illness (I ruptured my membranes at 19 weeks spontaneously, no known cause). He was extremely ill. Spent 135 days in hospital before he came home. He had many health problems (time in nicu for a premmie is referred to as the rollercoaster, because it's always up and down).

Most serious was his bronchopulmonary dysplasia which graduated into chronic lung disease. He remained on oxygen until he was 13 months old, delivered via nasal tubes. For his first four years, he was very prone to getting respiratory conditions which he ALWAYS required hospitalisation for. These days he's seven and he's still more likely to get a cold than my other children, but no longer needs to go to hospital every single time.

Fortunately he avoided a brain bleed, although that didn't prevent him getting cerebral palsy. He suffers from a moderate to severe spastic quadripareisis form of CP, but his intelligence seems unaffected.

He also was lucky enough to avoid the severe eye problems that many premmies develop (retinopathy of prematurity). His eyes did reach level 3 ROP, which is one stage before they need treatment, but his ROP resolved by itself. Nevertheless, he developed a severe strabismus (turned eye) which required surgery...this strabismus was related to his cerebral palsy. He also has short sightedness which needs corrective lenses.

He also had bilateral inguinal hernias related to his early birth.

Can I just say that although some say that you are considered full term at 37 weeks this is not the case otherwise you would be pregnant for 37 weeks and not 40. Those last few weeks are vital and although some give birth fine at that stage some, like myself, suffer extreme medical complications (like others too) and have very small babies who suffer and fight to survive. We were lucky..some arent. So if your pregnant and thinking that at 37 weeks would be a good time to have your baby, pleeeeease give it a few more weeks to get a bit more weight and ready for the outside world....

Just something I had to share.

This is YOUR being pregnant and also you have to do what you suppose is proper. If these items virtually killed you, it'll occur once more. You death isn't going to support the ones toddlers! Talk on your general practitioner approximately choices. If he may not be cooperative, ask if you'll be able to speak to anybody else for a moment opinion. Ask if they are able to check out one other healing. If no longer, weigh the professionals and cons of providing now or making an attempt to take the healing once more. It's continuously greater if the toddlers are introduced complete time period however many toddlers had been introduced at 34 weeks as a result of preterm hard work or headaches with the mum, youngster(s), and/or being pregnant. Although they've a larger threat of headaches, it's regularly indispensable to try this and plenty of are simply exceptional. My possess siblings (twins) have been introduced at 34 weeks and spent a pair weeks within the NICU. No headaches rather then they have been small and wanted support respiring for a couple of days. They're now 26 years historical and flawlessly average. Good success and I wish matters figure out for you. Congratulations for your twins!

At 37 weeks your baby is considered full term and could be born that day.
