is it true that a man bought an original copy of the decleration of independence for 3 dollars at a garage sale. its an urban legend but some say that it is true

Very close my friend; here is the TRUE story:

A lucky bargain hunter became a millionaire after finding an ORIGINAL COPY of the Declaration of Independence in the frame of an old painting.

I remember reading a story about that.

But you have to realize that the original 'official' copy of the Declaration was sent to King George III. That was the whole purpose of it, to declare our independence from him. I'm not sure what happened to that one. He might have just tossed it in the wastebasket. 8^)

It was one of only two "original copies." It was behind a painting. Yes, it's true. I think he paid a dollar for it.
