Its freedom. It makes me free to choose not to live in a city where I sit in traffic jams. I can choose to go there and have, but I live 14 miles from the nearest small town. I have seen the elephant and I don't find it all that appealing. WIth my car I just recently drove form Texas to California and back. I visited LA and Hollywood for the first and last time. A long the way I stopped in Sin City and had a blast. I saw the Big Ditch out there in Arizona. I went when I wanted and I stopped when I didn't. I took 3 people with me. I did it all in 9 days and 3200 miles. I stayed in 5 different cities. I left some cash along the way and picked up a bit in Ruidoso, NM from the others visiting the Mescalero Tribe's new casino. I saw antelope, idiots, freaks, the Pacific, big horns, desert, mountains. Without my car I would still be walking just to get out of Texas. A car gives you the freedom to live where you want and to work where you want. You might say that if I were an animal and I am, my dominate home range is about 200 miles across but I have the potential to roam far south into Mexico and North into Canada. If I didn't have a car my horse would get tired and I would need an airplane big enough to carry him too. Fact is, I could not live here in this part of Texas and niether could many other people in this day and time.

Freedom. It's a privilege.
It's easy to rethink things when everything is at your grasp - or when freedom is guaranteed by a set of keys in your pocket. I wouldn't take that for granted.
I don't like traffic or the fact that my air conditioner, door handles, passenger side rear view mirror, FM radio and CD player don't work, but at least I can go wherever whenever.

Mine is a Prison cause I owe sooooo much $$$$$ on it still. I'm locked in the prison of my payments for at least another year... then with the way gas prices are climbing I'd say ITS STILL A PRISON!

My vehicle gives me freedom. I am fortunate enough to live in the country, but it makes it inconvenient as far as access to amenities goes! The sacrifices I make to have my vehicle are worth it. The alternative is to move to an area with noise and pollution. An unacceptable option!

It was freedom to me.... until gas prices went up.

Now I can't afford to take the road-trips I wanted to take and go on the trips I planned for it (it's 4wd). So it became just another appliance at that point.
