They can be sometimes wrong. My sister is in the medical field and she says that the male and female parts look similar. The boy has the penis and the girl has the lips that are out. So it might be wrong or might be right. If they take several ultrasounds to check on the baby they can update it for you. There is a chance of them being wrong. I was told I had a boy and it was right because they did ultrasound everytime I went in to check the baby. Everytime he said its a boy.

They told you this during an ultrasound?

If they tell you it's a boy it's usually because they saw a penis, so the chances are it will be a boy. If they say it's a girl, it might've just been because the penis was not easily seen.

Of course the ONLY way you will tell is with genetic testing (only given in high-risk pregnancies) and of course when the baby is born.

Can a girl baby be mistaken for a boy???

I've heard of that before, but these days they are pretty accurate. I know you must feel disappointed that it's another boy having already had 3. I want a girl more than anything and I'm working on my second boy. I kept saying, well maybe she was wrong, but she even went into detail about where the scrotum was.

Baby boy unsuitable for a woman, seeing that that simply method you've got an attractive child boy. My child boy has plenty of hair and an attractive face, so I manage this predicament myself. It's lovable whilst they are toddlers, now not such a lot as they grow older.

It is more likely to mistake a girl when it is actually a boy because sometimes the testes does not drop until just before birth in some cases.

There's always a small possibility the doctors can get the sex wrong. I know of one case where they said boy and it ended up being a girl. That being said most doctors make sure they are positive about the sex before they tell you. So it's possible but highly unlikely that they're wrong.

They usually won't tell you if they aren't at least 90% sure. When we were told it was a girl my husband asked 10 times to make sure because he wanted a boy. I had my ultrasound at 21 weeks, because that's the best time to tell. We got her to move around and got a lot of shots of her "area" and it was 90% confirmed that it was a girl.

Definitely. Ultrasound gender guesses can be very innacurate, especially if done too early since boys and girls look very similar early on. That's why they never tell you they are 100% sure.
