it would be romatic for me or fancy. expecially if it's like a first date. I would try to get a good cook with wine everything make it really special. if it was like a good friend or a really close relation ship you I would make it simple and severe it in the living room and be comfy!

I would try and make it a little more than plain but not real romantic. I would cook something I could make ahead of time and I wouldn't need to be in the kitchen cooking when you came. Maybe Italian, like Lasagna with a salad and some garlic bread and a nice bottle of wine or maybe a little fancier like twice baked potatoes, a small rib roast, some asparagus, rolls and the wine. Gee, this is making me hungry!

If we were at my house we would eat sitting on the floor around the coffee table with the lights dim and the blinds open so we can see the sun set. The food wouldn't be fancy, and there would HAVE to be mashed potatoes. So to go along with the potatoes, I would cook steak and maybe have a small salad with some killer dressing. Then we would play Clue or chess or some other thinking game (because knowledge and skills are sexy) while eating cheesecake

I'd make it very nice.....romantic only if it were a longer relationship.
But the table would be fully set with china, placemats, a centerpiece, candles & cloth napkins in rings.
I am an accomplished cook, so I'd probably make something complicated.....but a nice baked pasta dish with salad & garlic bread is a great choice for most beginners.
Good luck!

Dim lights...2 ocean scented candles on, on each side of the table, Soft romantic music playing in the background just above a whisper... and i would cook chicken breast, with vegetables and mash potatoes, and red wine to go with that and for dessert apple pie, fresh out of the oven.

If I have a dinner date I just make Hot Pockets with green beans. It's very casual.
