That is a good point Dion J Doesn't a father also have rights? He doesn't carry the child but, still part of the baby.

ABORTION IS NEVER JUSTIFIED!
The unborn child gets brutally slaughtered, and the corpse is taken away in a medical waste truck. I see it every Friday when I protest ouside of Planned Parenthood.
The child has EVERY RIGHT IN THE WORLD TO LIVE and shouldn't be torn to peices, vaccummed out, forced prematurley to de delivered, poisoned with saline or have Metzenbaum scissors plunged into their skull and having contents of brain evacuated, then removed and thrown in a dumpster, all because the mother didn't want to put the child up for adoption or take responsibility.
NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO DO THIS
HOW IS THIS JUSTIFIED?

Your right Dion J... the only time the father is asked, is when it's time to pay the bills. I know alot of fathers who do the right thing, and accept resposability for their actions... but we have no rights... we have the right to pay, and that's it. I'm not going to get in the middle of an abortion argument... I said my piece...Some people forget, that when the child was concieved... both male and female were there. I will say this, If I was married, and had children, and was to split up with my wife, there is no way in He11 she would get custody of my children!!

A woman's right is to choose to have a child or not. Its her body, regardless of what is growing inside her. Until that fetus breaths on its own, the body giving it life gets to make all the choices.
I'd like to see more arguments FOR birth control, to prevent abortions in the first place. I'd also like to see more programs so that pregnant women get to have more choices (and help if they need it) so they can keep the babies if they want to.

Aborsion isnt anyone's right it is the only time which you can not be selfish.
Alot of people think that it is the easy way out, well it isnt
It isnt easy to ly there while they suck out your baby or when you see the sonar
The easy way out is to have the child, even thou you can not care for it
Why didnt you get an aborstion because you would be able to live with it - you are selfish
You know you wont be able to give to that child what he derserves yes he can be adopted but what gurantee to you have that it will get adopted the child could grow up in a fosterhome will that make you happy
Think before you judge

You know what I am sick to the core about talking about abortion, I think people on both sides of the abortion issue need to focus on important things such as poverty, health care, education and so forth and if people would pay more attention to those things there would be less need for abortion.. But fine you brought the question up so I will answer it..
A woman has a right to control her own body, If she does not want to be pregnant she has the right not to be pregnant it is as simple as that.. Not only that but if a woman decides she wants an abortion she has a right to a clean and safe one, instead of dieing from an illegal abortion.. But even then, lets say for arguments sake that if abortion were illegal women wouldn't get them, OK so now your gonna force a woman to carry a baby she does not want, do you really think she is going to take care of her body the same way? Do you think the child would benefit from being born from a mother who doesn't want him/her?
If you can't trust a woman to decide whether or not to bring a child into the world, how can you trust that same woman with a child?

It is the woman's right to choose to abort because she has the right to bodily integrity like every other born human.
The court case McFall V Shimp set the precedent for bodily integrity, and that precedent has been used in many cases over the years. In that case it was ruled that the right to life does not give one the privilege to use another humans body against their will. If we grant a fetus the right to life that, in and of itself, does not justify banning abortion, because if one were to ban abortion they would be explicitly giving the fetus a right that no other born person has, namely the right to use another born adult against his or her will as a means for survival.
This all means that even if a fetus was given the right to life, it would not be able to trump a woman's bodily integrety.
Hope this answers your question.

It is a fall back position. It reminds me of several things one of which is that a society is known by how it treats its weakest citizens. Another is the idea that if you don't believe in it don't have one which doesn't work on several levels 1) What if the baby doesn't believe in it and2) If I told someone if you don't believe in murder then don't murder. Thisstill leaves me as an accomplice in the murder because I didn't stop it. Another is a group a few decades ago decided to eliminate parts of their population ;the first thing they did was deny that they were people, then they began to promote that the individuals were a drain on the society. Another thing that bothers me is that it is a baby once it travels a few inches previous to this it is only a fetus (Latin for baby) and is only the mother's concern. How does a mere few inches make the difference in whether someone is a human?

No one wants to have an abortion as a substitute for birth control. It's not like clipping your toenails. There are too many unwanted, abused, ignored, hungry children in this world to bring in any more. I worked with a center for abused pre school children in Washington, D.C. in the late 70's. One 5 year old girl had 47 cigarette burns on her body from her mother's boy friend - done over one weekend, one 3 year old boy had a pot of coffee poured down his back and his clothes were stuck to his scalded skin and I could go on and on. And, these inner city kids no one would ever adopt. They are left like trash by their parents to blow in the wind. So, unless you know a secret that can save millions of abused and unwanted children from this fate, MYOB. You and the government.

I'm not agreeing with abortion since i have 2 kids and couldnt really imagine having to go through something like that, but to be honest it might be better that women have that choice, some babies have serious deffects, some are only 15, some people just arent capable of takign care of a baby, there are some sick people out there, can you imagine them all having a whole bunch of kids running around? Not evryone is willing to give a baby up for adoption and the people who do that use drugs the whole time have babies that will not lead a "normal" life. If a mother doesnt want her child and wont give it up for adoption then the child is better off unborn. Sad but true.

it is the law that gives her the right as in most legal cases the victim's rights are not what the case is about it is finding guilt or innocence based on law the child and father are not part of her right or wrong doing
