For $200 or so, the best choice is the Radeon X1950XT. If you're willing to spend a little over $260, the Geforce 8800gts 320mb is the card to buy. It comes down to what your budget is.

If you just want a card better than your X1300, most cards from $80 on up, qualify. Even a Radeon X1650 Pro or Geforce 7600GT is better than your X1300.

DX10 really isn't a big deal since no games support it yet (and by the time it's the widely adopted, there will be a new generation of cards anyway) so don't waste money on budget DX10 cards like the 8600 or 8500- they are slower than the earlier generation 7800/7900 cards.

Either get a fast DX9 card or if money permits, grab the excellent 8800 series for DX10 support in the future.

X700 is a horrible gaming card. The 1300 would be better but may require an additional power connection. Look into the nvidea 6600 GT. It should be down to that price by now.

Go to www.newegg.com
8800GTS 320MB (after rebate is $260) -- fastest video card on the market for this price.
Otherwise the 8600GTS for $150 would be an outstanding video card.
ATI has some new 2000 series cards, but they are still quite new and still on the expensive side -- their $400 video card is just barely competing w/ the 320MB 8800GTS.

Well, you can get a 320MB 8800GTS for $260. I'd highly reccomend going with that. If you could get $250, you can get the extra $10 right? You'll have great performance, and DX10.

Brand new Radeon cards for that price at TigerDirect.com
My old catalog lists an XT1800 GTO 256mb for $250
and others for less
all would be less now and under warrenty - unlike ebay

Your question is really dependent upon what kind of games you are planning to play with it.

Here is a link to a site that has a great way to compare video card performance using several different types of games and video applications.

From there, you can find the prices for them on http://www.newegg.com
