I haven't read any other answer, but see this Q so often.

"P" trap. Remove it first, before chemicals.

Q-Tips, hair pins, hair, clipped finger nails, mascara brushes, tooth brushes, nail clippers, etc etc etc , all are subject to becoming trapped in a Sink drain.

If the P trap is clear, run a snake or garden hose into the low end of the plumbing/drainage pipe and see if it flows free.

Also get a slip in drain strainer to avoid the problem after this.

Without trying to sound PREACHY,,, I'm amazed at how many go straight to the Chemicals solution first, when with minor effort, mess, and expense the alternatives are often the cure.

out of interest which brand un-blocker did you use?
have had similar problems but with the shower, tried plungers, foaming unblockers, a whole pile of different ones only one i found to work was the "Mr Muscle" sink & plughole unblocker the gel formula. its more expensive than most of the others i tried but was the only one that worked and best of all worked first time!
hope that helps.

We got a plastic squidgy plunger from B&Q for about £12 that just suirts air under pressure down the plughole - brilliant results (but don't forget to cover the overflow bit as everything will try to come out of there!!!)

Either call a plumber or tackle the problem yourself by undoing the u_bend pipe under the sink and unblocking it that way...Remember to place a bucket under the pipe to collect any water from the sump..

Dry the area around the overflow and apply duct tape to seal it. Fill the handbasin full then bang down hard with the palm of your hand, it sometimes works. If you have old-fashioned plunger try that, but in reverse mode !!!! Pull quickly upwards, it is usually better than down.

I would try using a snake. as you feed the cable through, just be sure to keep turning the handle because that will help the spring-like tip gather the most gunk out of the drain.

Go to the hardware store and get a 'snake' ( a metal thinga mabob that you crank and it extends into the pipes, drilling and breaking up any massive clog you have).

Costs under 20 bucks - and it sounds like you could use one!

Pour Jeyes Fluid down the hole, it's good for disolving any caked in gunk. Then boiling water will shift the residue
