No! Myspace is no more dangerous than the rest of the internet. It just depends how responsible the person is. If you're the type of person to just add everyone and post your phone number and address, than myspace is dangerous.
However, you seem responsible. And since you're only adding people you know, you're completely safe! If you're still concerned, make sure your myspace is set to private so only people that you add can see it.
hope this helps!
Best wishes!!!

You really can only make it a bad site if your foolish. Most parents are worried about their kids and myspace because all the stuff they hear in the news. However, it can be perfectly safe. If you only add friends, and your profile is private, you can't be in any danger. The kids who are stalked and raped by people on myspace are foolish kids who do not use caution and add and even meet in person people online whom they have no clue as to their identity. It an be a fun site when used right.

It totally depends on how you conduct yourself. There are a bunch of ways to make your myspace safer. You can set your entire profile to private so that only your friends that YOU'VE added can see it; the other people can only see a picture. I think myspace is fine unless you put out things like your last name, or the place you live. Otherwise, it's just like any other blog.

I keep hearing the word "Kids". It's never a good idea to allow any child carte blanche to a computer. Children make bad decisions frequently. Parental involvement in any online activity is the key to a happy computing experience for all concerned. It's NOT myspace who's at fault for the bad press, it's the adults and their lack of supervision.

It is always a bad idea to share too much personal information online since whatever you share becomes out of your control. That being said, MySpace isn't bad in and of itself, only some of the people are. Sharing things like first name, a picture and a few interests shouldn't be a problem. The people who run into trouble are those who discuss their vulnerabilities, their company secrets, their sexual desires, etc... because there's almost always some sick person out there willing to prey on folks.

I do not like myspace, I conducted a survey, it seems kids who regularly visit Myspace have lower grades, as well as some moral standards...

Thats their fault.Not myspace's Fault.

If by "bad" you mean strangers can view your personal information, then no. You can always set your privacy settings so that only people you know can view your profile and see your information and comments.
However, I still get spam messages from porn/music sites on myspace.com.
One community site I recommend instead of myspace.com is facebook.com, because the privacy and security settings are stronger and more customizable.

Like anything else online, a person should take extra precautions they normally wouldn't take in real life.
