If they're embedded in the finish, the only solution, sad as it may seem, may be to refinish the table.
Before you do that, try using a bottle of Old English Scratch Remover furniture polish on it. There's a light and dark-wood variety, so make sure you choose the right one.

This will sound strange, but just try it.....It works
I learned this years ago from someone...........all you need to do is put some "cigarette ashes" on top of round ring stains.
use a clean cloth and rub the ashes into the ring, and inside it.
Do this two times.. rub lightly, then harder. work it in.(remove left over ashes) after a few minutes of rubbing
Then polish with a product called "Old English". Its a liquid made for stains......Only use Old English two-three times a year. It is a little pricey, but it works well. (Use Pledge 1 time a week )

Water stains can often be polished out by rubbing the area with metal polish wadding. Rub vigorously to generate heat. Heat mark. Rub the affected area with a mixture of 1 part pure turpentine, and 1 part raw linseed oil or camphorated oil. Sure 1 of these methods will help you fix the problem

Years ago, I´d read that a thick layer of vaseline woulld remove those rings. I tried it and it worked very well. I'd try the easiest and cheapest, then progress to the ones that take more effort (if needed). If all of them are recommended here, something's bound to work.

Boring I know, but time often solves this one. What happens is moisture under your cup or whatever has been forced under the finish by heat. If you just leave it a while the problem often solves itself.
Thereafter make sure you use coasters, your Granny had a point!

I had this problem, you can buy ring remover from places like betterware, not sure how good they are though. I ended up sanding mine then staining it the same colour.

Try putting a glob of mayo on the rings and leave overnight; you may have to do this several l times but it should work.
