What's wrong with the yankees?

They are up 7-0, with runners on first and 2nd, and Melky Cabrera bunts. People talk about sportsmanship in baseball, but how classy is that, to kick a team when their down. Those runs mean nothing, why bunt in that situation?

it's 10-0 now actually with a-rod's homerun.

The Yankees middle relief is so bad, that if Wang gets knocked out of the game they might need those extra 3 runs.

I guess you haven't seen the Yankee bullpen of late....If anyone can blow a 7 run lead, they could. Especially since the game the night before went into extra innings, they're probably a little on the tired side, lol.

I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to put a few more runs on the board, maybe send a message that "Hey were down in the standings right now, but were're still the Yankees and look out in the second part of the season!"

It is the last game before the All-Star break after all!

Gee, maybe because the Angels could come back? 7 runs today isn't a very sizeable lead, crazier things have happened. It's not like they're the ONLY team to have ever bunted with that big a lead. Oh, don't use A-Rod's HR as a factor in what Melky did, and I know that's what you're trying to do. It was 7-0 when Melky bunted, not 10-0. Melky isn't always a great clutch hitter, either - he could've been given orders to bunt in that situation. What's it matter to you?

Melky was just sacrificing the runners. In this day and age, you can never have to many runs. I've seen plenty of games these last couple of years where a team was up by like 10 runs only to see the other team come from behind and win. You need all the extra runs you can get. Granted, the Angels won't catch the Yankees today, besides the Yankees need a big game like today. Maybe this will be the boost they need to start out the second half of the season.

No it isn't that bad because he was sacrificing the runners over. The Angels have a great offense and stranger things have happened. Ex. The Yankees came from 6 down against the Indians. Also the inning is only the 4th so the Angels can come back. A-Rod is a beast 30 homers

the kid above could be right

i mean at least they didn't steal

but with a 7 run lead, come on, why bunt?

The yankees have no class, and Joe Torre obviously did this becuz he is scared to lose his job and he felt he needed those runs espicially against the angels bad relievers

This is the Major Leagues and any team can come back on your at a moment's notice, especially a team like the Angels who currently lead the AL West, so we know they are not a slouch team. If I'm the manager, I know that a win is not assured until all the innings are played. Stranger things have happened in sports than coming back down from 10 runs.

if you know your yankee baseball you would know that the angels kill the yankees every time they play there is never enough runs against the angels. another point i will make is that for a team playing like the yankees have so far there is nothing wrong working small ball in a game like this in fact what better time to practice this

If your just talking about this game only, all I can say is that times have changed and you will never have enough runs in this day and age.Now if your talking about the franchise in general there is no other team that can even say they are in the Yankees Class,27 WS Championships says it all. This coming from a Birds on the Bat Fanatic

Have you seen the yankees starting pitching and middle relief? They need as many runs as possible.
