The whole system is flawed. Baseball players are compensated based on past performance and/or future potential. That in part, is the Yankees problem right now. Giambi, Pettitte, Mussina, and others run the payroll up and they are falling way short on performance. You can throw Zito into the same mix, none of these past their prime players are worth the money they are being paid base on current performance. Like him or not A-Rod is one of the few big time players worth the money he is being paid. It was a risk the Giants took with Zito that appears was the wrong move for their franchise.

I am a Giants fan and it was a huge mistake for them to sign Barry Zito for that much. But I guess to answer your question, when the Giants can put some runs on the bored for him.

well it he will have to have an era under 2, at least 25 wins, at least 200 strikeouts, and no more than 10 walks to actually play like a 126 million dollar man. so to answer your question: never

I'm pretty sure he's been cashing his checks, so I think he's started already.
But if you're talking about when he'll start justifying that albatross of a contract, the answer will be whenever he wins back-to-back Cy Young's or never - whichever comes first.
