I have visited Lancaster County PA twice and want to move there. I live in Massachusetts currently and I hate it! I loved PA and especially the Lancaster area. I am looking for people who know something about the area to tell me anything good or bad. Such as stuff about jobs, realstate, crime, shopping, food, people, churches etc.

I live near Pittsburgh and visit the Lancaster area often as I have family there. I am looking to move there also. There is just something about that area. Because that area is growing the job situation is better than the most of the state, especially western Pa. My family tells me how over the past few years there have been a ton of people moving to the Lancaster area. Real estate is about normal, some of the towns/townships are a little more pricey(Manheim Twp for example). Crime is about normal too, just stay away from Lancaster city, York city, Harrisburg, or Reading. The shopping and food are hard to beat with all the outlets and the great homemade Pa Dutch cooking. The people are, for the most part, noticably nicer. It is a laid back feel. On my last trip there I heard someone describe the area as having the last smiling people you see before you hit Philly. Anything else you'd like to know, feel free to e-mail me.

Pennsylvania is a great, diverse state. factors of it like Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Erie are very modern-day. The greater rural factors tend to be conservative--yet even in those factors there continues to be somewhat a mix.
