If a horse is only being fed carrots, then there is no possible way that they are getiing the nutrients they need. Also, it is highly recommnded that a vet be consulted before a horse goes on a diet. Also, do you mean can they be fed carrots if they are in a diet? If so, you need to clarify.

Um, if you mean carrots as the whole feed source then...no...carrots won't sustain a horse because they have very few nutrients. If you mean the horse is on a diet, then yes they could be fed a carrot or two. Just don't over do it or it'll defeat the purpose of the diet.

I'm not a horse expert, but basic nutrition tells us that it's never healthy for any mammal (including ourselves) to ever be fed just one item. A horse can't survive on carrots only, and if they're anything like other animals it would make them lose weight far too quickly, which is dangerous to health. Weight loss diets should ALWAYS include all the nutrients an animal needs.

No. They cannot live off of carrots. Carrots are for treats only. A horses natural diet is grass, so a good quality grass hay would be your best choice. You can add a vitamin/mineral supplement to help with the nutrients lost in the drying process. And don't forget to provide clean fresh water at all times. Have your veterinarian help you with how much hay to feed and what kind of supplement would be best for your horse.

FALSE!
no no. a horse fed only carrots with not get the proper amount of nutrients it requires.
a horse on a diet is on a diet for health reasons. they eat more or less depending on wether they are gaining weight or losing weight but they always have a small variety of things. a horse that needs to lose can do something like eat less grass to cut down on weight build up and only eat grains and nutrient suppliments and a small amount of hay or alfalfa.
other things can eb done depending on what you are focusing on improving or for a horse with a sensitive stomach.

carrots are more like a treat to horses and can't live or diet only on them that could make them really sick but all you have to do is tone down on the food like by either giving is less food for it's meal or even no snacks during the day would help if you want him or her to lose just a little weight.

Horses always need hay. Carrots are a treat and nothing more. Alot of horses don't need extra grain, but they all need hay and/or plenty of grazing land.

never ever ever put your horse on what you call a diet.horses should be allowed to eat naturally and EXCERCISED to get them in shape.Only humans need to diet, horses will allways look well, but if they are not worked, and artificially fed, then they will gain weight.-ask yourself this-when did you ever see a really fat horse in the wild?

Bad idea, you could give the horse a case of founder that way, it's a kind of sweet feed overload.
