Note:I have a childhood friend we lost in Afghanistan because of his loyalty to his country.I would rather see an aircraft carrier named after someone like hiom than our Rich people running our country right now!

Perhaps it should be named USS Lewinsky instead...

[I'm not a republican - I'm not even american - Monica just seems to have made a more memorable contribution to the US political landscape than either of the presidents Bush]

I don't see what the fuss is here, except uneducated people getting upset. G. W. Bush means Bush Sr, the US President who served from 1988-1992. A man who served this country during WW2, how many people here answering this question can say they served the country in a time of war?

Plus I was under the impression that the Secretary of the Navy named the ships, not the President.

Hey Becksbeer...get a grip dude. No need to get all emotional and hateful over the Clinton's, on a George Bush question. You're giving the cons a bad reputation. I dislike all of the Bush politicians, but, I agree, as a former President, and especially having been in a military conflict I don't have a problem with a ship being named after him. Now if they were to attempt to name one after george jr. I would be furious!

The first President Bush served with honor in ww2. The decision to name the Carrier was made by rhe Navy and DOD, then approved in Congress. To rename the Ship you would have to present facts that the first Bush acted in a dishonorable fashion or committed treason. Something you would have a hard time doing.

Why are liberals so damn stupid???

Jimmy Carter has a Sea Wolf class submarine named after him. He served with dignity in the Navy. Not a single Republican has a problem with that.

What are the odds that a navy ship will be named the USS William Jefferson Clinton? Bwahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been naming aircraft carriers after Presidents for a long time.

George H.W. Bush deserves to have his name on a carrier seeing he is the only President to have served on an aircraft carrier. He was a fighter pilot during WWII and scored a couple kills of Japanese fighters before being shot down and rescued by a submarine.

His service in the Navy is enough to warrant such an honor. If I'm not mistaken, he was the last President we have had who actually served on the front lines during a war. Neither his son, nor his son's predecessor, can say as much. Would you be more inclined to accept the inevitability of this occurrence, if it were to be perpetrated by the current President's successor?

USS Obamar? Maybe in some banana republic's navy? What does "oba" mean in Spanish, anyway?

Probably the same thing that would happen if Clinton's would go ahead and name his so-called library The Best Ho house in DC., which they might name it that, after all they are the two that has absolutely no dignity at all. We already know what the Clinton's want to do , destroy us.

What kind of a question is this? His father fought in WWII. Have you ever fought in a major battle? He was a US President. Have you ever been a US President?
